Same sh*t from these scammers, different day, & most annoying, Telcos claim they cant do anything about it. They can do most anything else infringing peoples' privacy, but not block/track reported/recorded scammers, what a load of bullsh*t.
I will dispose of our telephone service entirely, but senior family overseas rely on us keeping the same 'Private' contact number. It is very annoying, & our 'Ministers' are just as useless.

It is too easy to block unwanted callers. I have this number diverted to "Its Lenny" (Google it), they chatted for 4 minutes before giving up, they keep trying but don't learn. I wonder if they made a sale? :)

The lady on the phone, who had an Asian accent, said that she's from WA law/legal firm, ringing up about a not at fault accident. I asked her to clarify as I thought she was legit and my husband and I have each been involved in an accident. Due to privacy she couldn't tell me (I think she said something about the accident database doesn't give it). I kept asking who she wanted to speak to and which accident. She was very curt and then passed me onto her supervisor, an Asian male. I told him my son answered the phone and they can't just ring up without knowing who they want to speak to. He then said "maybe your son had an accident". Really now he's a teenager and can't drive I respond. He then asked if anyone had been injured and then the light bulb blew in my head!! I asked him if he wanted to know if someone had been injured as a result of the accident and he said yes. I told him that no one had been injured and that I wasn't interested in this and halfway through my sentence I heard beep beep beep... he hung up on me!!! It seems to me that they aren't good at being lawyers so they need to ring around to make money. I would never trust anyone who goes about their business in this manner. Plus I'm from Sydney... as if we don't have enough lawyers here therefore I'm going to appoint one on the other side of the country to represent me, especially rude pigs like these???!!! Don't be sucked into this BS!!

SCAM SCAM SCAM, I am sick and tired of receiving these sorts of phone calls. Something needs to be done to stop it.

Got a missed call from (08) 9467 4216

we have a private number, so they are violating both our 'do not call policy' as well as private number. How they got it needs to be answered and its amazing how you can not 'block' a nuisance number on your home phone as you can on your Apple or Smart Phone.

Indian lady called me asking if we had an accident. I told her where she got that information from she said she can't say. I challenged her with questions until she hung up

Just got this call i answer Say hello 4 times no replay i hang up i knew it be a scam these people dont leave us alone

This number called my private number about a car accident.I have not had an accident or insurance claim. Said No and hung up!

Called me tonight at 4.30pm I didn't pick up then called them back and they hung up on me - Class Action against these telcos is definitely required.

Just say no, no, no. This is the old accident scam. We know you have been in an accident, were you driving, do you have a lawyer...? Hanging up fast is the best action.

Keep getting calls but I do not answer numbers I don't know or cant recognise but it's very annoying and I too am seriously getting rid of my landline. Telstra should be recognising these scams and do something urgently about this

Same scammer rang me today from (08) 9467 4216
Obviously the telco who provides the phone service for this scammer knows full well they are trying to defraud the Australian public, as do the politicians who set the legislative framework under which the Telcos operate. They could not possible not know!!! Year after year this goes on and nothing ever changes - absolutely disgraceful.

(08) 9467 4216 showed up on the caller ID as though it emanates from WA or SA. These scam calls are usually listed as "private".
Auto dialler used - if you pickup the call is routed to anyone idle in the scam centre. I listened to the spiel about a car accident in our household in the past year - they are fishing for info. They ask "do you remember it". I usually finish the call with an oath and hangup.
This time I reported it to the ACCC Scamwatch site.
How is it they can identify with an Australian fixed phone number over more than a year and no-one closes them down. Dutton should get off his arse and rid us of these external threats.

Same rhetoric as what other's have mentioned. Someone involved in accident. Made a claim. Need personal details. So my reply was, Would you like to be in an accident yourself? Lady asked me to clarify and I said, "if you continue and I find you, I will make sure you have an accident". Put down the phone thereafter.

So sick of getting these calls from this number (08) 9467 4216 asking me about the accident I have been involved in. Surely they must get sick of being called names and hung up on.
I've now blocked this number, along with several others, that keep telling me I've been involved in an accident - scum

Thank you one and all for your comments. I have been called six times on my private number. We don't get far with the conversation because I can barely make out what they are saying in their thick Indian accents. I keep asking them to repeat. Now I know I may give them short shrift.

Be warned; it sounds like a good revenge to use sirens and whistles, etc., but they could call you back and do the same in return.

They can not give me details of the accident, such as vehicle numbers, police reports, licence numbers, dates, types of cars, etc. I also have a silent number.
