Leon, I worked with the Police Dept. many years ago, and received filthy, obscene phone calls. One policeman told me the same thing - use my Thunderbird whistle which I used when umpiring basketball, and blast it into the phone. I did this, but forgot to turn the earpiece away from my ear. DEAFENED ME!!!! lol. However, the trouble with blowing a whistle into the phone like this, I received these phone calls 2 times a night, between midnight and 5am, every night for about a week. They were getting their own back. I don't recommend this method of retaliation.

This is an offshore scam that will attempt to get your personal details using a silly insurance story. Provide nothing, or you may become a victim of fraud.

They do not require access to a phone directory to call you. Nobody has sold your details. Your phone is ringing because their computer autodials every number within a certain range. They mask their call origin too - the 08 prefix is sham and meaningless.

Block and ignore.

I'd like to know how these scam callers have Australian ID phone numbers. They obviously are not in Australia

Strong accent calling from a script. She called me sir (Im female) Claimed to be from the accident investigation department. Politely told her i knew it was a scam before hanging up!

Ringing on the landline. Silent no. Sick of these pricks ringing and talking crap. Scammers. Can't something be done to stop this? Someone is selling our info.

Received a call from an Indian gentleman advising he was from the motor accident investigation department, however, once told I was formerly a police officer and had never heard of this department in au immediately hung up.

SCAM ALERT! An indian sounding male asking me a non involved car accident had been reported to this number. I said Oh really! This is a business number and there had been no accidents, good try though. Beep beep beep, he hung up! No fun!

Scam! Someone rang from Accidental Investigation Department. Said someone from our number had been involved in an accident, BUT couldn't provide any details. Mentioned that the person wasn't at fault though. Definitely the beginnings of a scam....

I promptly hung up.

Just received a call from this number stating I had an accident (which I had) even knew details of where I'd been hit. They MUST have some access to our insurance companies? I thought it was a scam 15 secs in but I played along. I asked who the insurance company was he said he couldn't provide any personal details! REALLY? He claimed that I would receive compensation to my door. Ahuh! Then said your name is Donelly right? Haha NOPE! Told him to blow it up his A that he's full of S and needs to stop being a D! Tried to ring number back, 1 ring then engaged. Now in the process of making a complaint with the police! MORONS!

Just received a phone call from this number (08) 9467 4216 on my private landline Indian lady stating that she was put on some investigations please so I questioned her and said how did you get my private number hung up straight away.. when Ringing that number back rings once and hang up ..SCAM

have been contacted 3 times this week, said I had compensation owing due too accident (no accident here) but kept talking. A big scam!!! Indian person dribbling crap!

Blocked call sent directly to my answering machine, keep trying scammers!

I usually just leave them on hold and walk away while they are talking - hope they get a big telephone bill.

Got a call from (08) 9467 4216. Guy with an Indian accent kept asking if anyone in the household has had an accident within the last 2 years.
Said his calling from HDR Lawyers. I asked for his name and position and he hangs up?

Just had a call from this number, no idea how it navigated my IVR, as it sounded automatic, and was some sort of announcement in in mandarin or similar.

Yes had the call twice today. I have it blocked now with a phone number blocker i purchased a year or two ago through ebay from the USA. Was about $ 50-00 but a good investment. I have so far over 30 pest numbers blocked and it is working perfect. Apparently it answers the call and blocks it immediately. That way at least it cost the phone pests a call.

I answered and there was no response. Wouldn't have answered if I'd been wearing my glasses as these mongrels have called many times!

Disgusting. Indian female asks for personal details and is seeking the person involved in a car accident in the last 12 months. When questioned, she provided the name and address of her Law Firm in Perth.
