Just an update on the 61403438 scam. Jason O'Connor is now using a voice synthesiser/scrambler so he sounds like a rather machine-like American.

Same thing, Jason O'Connor - (02) 6140 3438 - ATO - CDPP. Law suite etc.
Called on private number, but left message and landline number on answering machine!
Not the smartest of scammers - always uses the same name, I wouldn't be surprised if it was his real name!

Had two calls from This guy "Jason O'Connor" first on Saturday 5 Sep and then again on Monday 7th Sep. Same spiel as reported on this thread and no name of who he was supposedly contacting. Call back number left was (02) 6140 3438. Will ignore - any ATO action will always be in writing and quote tax file number, correspondence references etc.

Yes, I too got a call from Jason O'Connor. The message left was saying he was calling from ATO, there was a law suit filed and the police would be calling but he ended the message by saying "have a great day!" I though this was very odd! (and thought surely this isn't irony from the ATO?)

Can't believe that Telstra is showing it's typical true colours and not doing anything about cancelling the service, after all it is their carriageway that's being used to harass us, the end users... An update regarding the calls supposedly from Jason O'Connor at the ATO. He is now using a new number - (02) 6152 8681. Same details as reported by other people (I got a voice mail) he claims that there is a law suit against me but doesn't reference my name at all. He states that the local police will arrive at my door and that I should contact him on (02) 6152 8681 before that happens. His english is heavily accented. I've had this message left several times this year at my place of work. It is definitely a scam

Thank goodness I Googled - just listened to a message from Jason O'Conner 02 615 28648.

Just in from WA - he's doing the same thing from (08) 6193 8011. I called him back and he answered, told me he had no idea what I was talking about, until I called him out on his scam, and he hung up. I am phoning him back every 2 minutes on this number, hanging up before any auto answer so I don't get charged for the call. I ask everyone who has ever been harrassed by this guy to do the same. He might think twice before making another phone call to victimise another person. Can't wait to see this guy go down. PS - calling all the other numbers on this thread, just in case it's helping to make his life even worse.

Glad I googled this idiots name had me a bit scared until I read all your comments. I thought it a bit strange when a call from the AUATRALIAN taxation office came with an Indian accent. Thanks all will be able to sleep tonight. The number the idiot left me was (02) 6152 8648.

I also got a message from Jason OConnor from the ATO on my answering machine yesterday. the call back number was (02) 6152 8660. The quality of the sound was poor and was obviously a person talking in poor English, but he pretended it was a "computer generated" voice message. Otherwise it had much the same message as others have listed in their earlier posts. I tried calling back 3 or 4 times but there was no answer, although it seemed like the call was answered and then hung up on, the first time I called. I was worried but should have realised how unrealistic the message was. It was nothing like what a real Australian government agency would do. A relief to see these posts once I thought to Google the name.
