I received two calls on my answering machine from an Asian Lady and the message was a bit unclear. Something about the AGO (probably was the ATO) and that I must call back the number immediately or face Court. (02) 6152 8681 IS A SCAM. The thing is, this is the second SCAM left on my answering machine and from follow up this must tie in one with the other SCAM call left, which is (02) 6140 3436). These calls caused me distress, because I thought that some poor person should have received this number about their case, that they they caller had phoned the wrong number by accident. When checking the second number by looking up the white pages and phoning the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions Canberra who were very helpful and advised that the second number was a SCAM.

(02) 6152 8681 Scam (Dont Ring Back)

Received a phone message on 2/9 from 'Jason O'Connor' (a more sub-continent accent than Irish) of "the Australian Tax Office", warning me about a lawsuit in connection with tax evasion, and that I should call back "before the things go wrong against you". I figured that, rather than call back, I'd take my chances and wait for the imminent arrival of "law-enforcement from (my) territory".

yes, it is a scam. i rang police and ato. now i am continually ringing back. get unlimited national calls and have fun with these idiots.

Omg...i got the same message on my answering machine saying they were from the ATO. and i will get arrested if i dont call back. So i did and i asked him for my tax file number and my name and he hung up on me....TOTAL SCAM...

Had the same message left on my answering machine, as did my daughter about 2 months ago... word for word... obviously read from a script... Surely some authority can put a stop to it the number has to be connected to someone!! West Aust.

Was called by "Jason O'Connor" yesterday about a pending ATO law suit against me, but he never used my name, his accent didn't sound right to me and legitimate legal proceedings like this would involve a written letter telling me that I would be taken to court, not a phone call. Not legit.

Peter, got the same message on my answering machine. I'm about to round up a lazy 1000 and see if one of the bike clubs up there would like to visit the caller. I'm sure they have the technology to backtrack to an address (even if it's diverted).

Had a message left today by Jason O'Connor from the ATO with the same message as that mentioned by others. Total scam.

Total SCAM. Left message to call back before a police officer in my territory comes to arrest me for tax evasion, and before things go wrong in the law suit in my name (no name given)......How do these bastards sleep at night....

I called them back after they left an alarming message about Tax Evasion and they hung up on me. SCAM

This number asked my 80+ year old mother to call in regards to a tax crime/fraud by a voice mail (d*ckheads).
My Mum has a tax agent, all ATO correspondence would go through the agent AND IN WRITING NOT BY A PHONE CALL.
Be advised.

Tax scam or maybe a premium call scam. Ranting automated message in an Irish accent claiming to be the ATO (or the ITO, the accent makes it hard to be sure), threatening immediate criminal proceedings unless you ring them back instantly.
