Received a call from this # today, an Asian woman (no name) saying she was from the Comm Dept of Public Prosecutions representing the ATO saying an affidavit had been received for tax evasion (presumably in my name but she never named me), the house was under surveillance and I needed to call back asap - a delay would cause prosecution. The # is dead when you call. Looks like a scam to me!

I got the phone call from Jason O'Conner (from the ATO) saying to ricing him before things got out of hand. I have apparently been identified for tax evasion and a policeman from my territory will be dropping in to issue me with a warrant for my arrest. The gall of these scammers!!!! Everyone has to realise that Government departments and banks do not call you about problems. (My message to Jason if he reads this is "go hang your head in shame)

I received a telephone message on my message answering machine yesterday saying that she was the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, Canberra and that an affidvait had been received from the Australian Taxation Office with my names and address for Tax Evasion and that any delay on my part and I would face prosecution in Court. I tried to ring and ring back the number but there was no answer so I looked up the Commonwealth Department of Prosecutions Canberra on line and phoned them and they advised me this was a scam.

I had a message left on message bank from "Jason O'Connor" representing the ATO saying I needed to call (02) 6140 3436 because police officers were on their way to issue a warrant to attend Courts of the Commonwealth. Good grief! Most definitely a scam. Do not ring them back!!

Just had Muriel an Asian woman (can't say lady) rang and said exactly the same as everybody else that she had received an Affidavit and to ignore you will face prosecution ect got this message on 15/6/15 then got an email to our company 2 days later saying an online enquiry from Muriel had been made giving this phone number i then tried to ring the number but it didn't register. Was so glad when i googled the number and got everyone's confirmation that this is a scam. Muriel won't be getting any money from me!

My Mum call a call today but they seemed to have changed tactics. She was told that he was from CentreLink & she had been underpaid. Mum said she would call CentreLink & was told her file had been moved to their head-office & to call this number (02) 6140 3436). She hasn't bothered to call as she realised it was a scam. Next step would probably be to ask for bank and/or credit card details.
Interesting that they seem to have changed tactics from threats of arrest to offers of money to lure their prey.

Electronic message left on my answering machine from the ATO tax crime section. Told me to drop everything and listen and call back immediately on (02) 6100 3707. The caller said he was John Smith. When I rang back many hours later there was no pick up on the other end

Jason is at it again. I almost believed this was true for a bit there (and I don't consider I'm too gullible when it comes to this stuff). What a bastard.
I called the cops to report it. They referred me to the Scamwatch website. Seems our Jason has been awfully busy lately http://t.co/TVpJl2wEnb

SCAM!! SCAM!! SCAM!!
I believe I had the Indian version of Jason O'Connor call yesterday. Going by the number of similar details on here, I reckon it probably is a recording they play for everyone. I didn't ring back, but I certainly would like to have a chat with the scammer!! :)

A caller left a message to say that there is a tax fraud case against me, and the local police department are about to come and arrest me. He left the number: (02) 6140 3436. It all sounded very unrealistic and bogus. Out of curiosity, I rang the number, and was out through to Alex Maxwell who claimed to be an Australian Tax Office official with the badge number 198002. He gave me my case number, told me the call was being recorded, and told me not to interrupt his conversation or the local court house will be informed. I laughed. At which point he hung up. I know this is bogus, because if the ATO has a problem with my tax affairs, they will go to my Tax Agent (accountant) in the first instance. I hope no one falls for this. Someone ought to have their phone disconnected.
