Received SMS at 5:53pm on saturday and recevied call 1 minute later. SMS said "hi, please be prepared to receive a call from the Department of Health on (03) 8624 4051 regarding your COVID-19 vaccination appointment". I did not pick up the call as I booked vaccine next day. So don't know if this number is scam or legit because I am not sure that DHS is working on weekend or not.

Caller: Department of Health and Human Services I received a text and a call from this number inviting me to bring my 2nd COVID-19 vaccination booking forward. The caller didn't have to ask for my name - they already knew it and knew when I had had my first shot. Not a scam.

I received a text message to say "Dear Alyssa, You have tested positive for Covid-19" Gave a website where more details were required but issue is that my name is not Alyssa and I do not live in Victoria. The text messages were sent to my android tablet which I never use for text messages. There were 2 other messages asking me to be prepared to receive a call from the department of health at (03) 8624 4051. I really don't like to think that someone has tested positive and doesn't know but I have tried to call the DHHS with a number that I found on their website and after going through various options I get a message that says they are experiencing a high volume of calls and the line cuts out instead of giving me the option of staying on hold. Very unhelpful. Hardly surprising Victoria is having a Covid blowout at the moment if this is the sort of non-service you get. If it's a scam I will just delete the message and forget about it but otherwise I guess I will have to keep trying as there is a reference number given and DH should be able to check that against their records for "Alyssa". Advice required, should I persist?

Caller: DHS Text message first saying someone was calling me from DHS, spoke to a lovely woman who told me the health advice changed so my second covid jab can be sooner. Moved the booking forward and it updated in my DOH account so it's legit. Also sent a confirmation email from the same email I received the initial email from when I booked it myself. Not a scam. Go get jabbed boi.

Got the text, phone call immediately after. Asked me about my 2nd Pfizer dose, which was originally booked two weeks later, but a couple of days before I managed to reschedule to that afternoon.
Didn't know I'd rescheduled - asked if I had any other questions, ended call.
Seems legit though.

Caller: DHHS I still can't figure out if this is a scam or not.
I did fill out a form in DHHS website saying I have been in contact with a positive case because no one has contacted me for over 5 days. Next day I got a call from this number. He wanted to confirm with me my name, DOB and address...and he doesn't have my full name even though I have filled that in in the DHHS website (this is suss to me)....but then after I refused to provide my details, he went on and tell me all these information about isolation and answered my questions....He sounded like not confident and that's what gets me suspicious in the first place.
So I still don't know whether it's legit or scam...

DHHS have been inundated with work and have outsourced over 2000 jobs to people out of work and working from home. Not a scam.

Caller: Scammer saying Dept of Health They set up the scam sending multiple messages , I received six SMS in 3 days and on a Saturday night they called me, I found it suspicious and did not say my ID details to this person with a specific accent that is usually associated to scammers.
The SMS was saying about second dose vaccination appointment which was incorrect information anyway.

Received a text from ‘DH-COVID19’ at this number…to expect a call to book my Second dose. Number called..I picked up the call…but they hung up…Don’t know what’s going on..they must have access to the COVID vaccine database . If this is a scam, it is very worrying.

Scam, do not turn any of your private detail to them, not even your name. The number they quote for department of health might be correct, but it has nothing to do with them. Like scammer call you and say "i am from ATO", if you have any question about your tax you can call this number 13 28 61 (which is ATO number) What tricky is that when you call ATO they still work legitimately, but it has nothing to do with the scammer.
When you call ATO legitimate number, and you bite the bait thinking he is also legitimate. That is where the scam takes off.

Received a permit to travel from NSW to Qld. 2 days before I was due to travel from NSW to Vic using a transit permit and fly from Melb to Bris, I starting getting Messages from Vic Dept of Health. 1st message Fri 2 Oct at 11:28, saying 'you've arrived in Vic from a red zone....". Must admit thought this was legit and was triggered by my upcoming trip. 2nd message same day advised - "please be prepared to receive a call" and sure enough my phone rang and was asked Q's about my situation. Once I explained what I was doing in general, but without details, they simply said I should be fine. 3rd and 4th messages came next day, similar to above and when phone rang, I asked why am I getting messages and calls every day. THey apologised and said they would update my log with some notes. Thought that wad the end but its now 2 days after my flight from Vic to Qld and I have still being getting messages and today another call, which I didnt answer. I've just googled the number and found similar experiences. Not sure what their game is????

Just had my friend contact me about this number. They are agoraphobic and can't leave their house and telling them they have been to a tier 1 site? Massive scam going on by the government in Victoria.

Received a couple of texts from DH-COVID19 saying they would call me re being a tier 1 contact. Then received a call by a nice polite Indian guy. He said the call would be monitored and went on with a spiel about Isolation etc then asked for my address and a few other questions which I thought suspicious. I then asked him where my close contact was and he couldn't answer and placed me on hold. I hung up and he rang me back a couple of minutes later on a privet number. I then asked him again where I had been a close contact and he gave me St Vincents Hospital. I hung up as I was a close contact at work!!! Be aware people and ask before giving out personal details. If they are legitimate they will have them on file and be able to provide you your details.
