Caller: Department of Human Health and Services
Didn't answer the number, but it was followed by a SMS from DHHS about a travel permit to enter Victoria, and a reminder to get tested within 72 hours of return and self quarantine until I received a negative test result. Seems legit as I had got an orange zone permit a few weeks ago. But, restrictions changed by the time I did travel which made testing and self quarantine unnecessary, and I had a new permit by that time, so they obviously haven't updated their system to reflect this.
Text message first, then call claiming to be from Department of Health, asked if I had or was about to travel to Victoria from a red zone. Heavy accent, kid in background..
I called the real Department of Health who say is not one of their numbers and is a scam.
Caller: DHHS Victoria
This is a confirmed scam, not a DHHS number I first received a SMS to say I will receive a call from DHHS from this number (03) 8624 4051 re contact tracing. Asked my DOB and address. Was very suspicious. I hung up. Beware I returned a call from (03) 8624 4051 but reached vm for Department of Health and Human Services Caller: DHHS
This is not a scam number it's the DHHS.
As far as people saying they hear kids and animals in the background, they work from home as well, Einstein's.
Returned my call from this number after I filled out the .gov COVID form.
Indian dog from the "DHS" somehow knew I was at a tier 1 exposure site. Got me at a vulnerable time. I passed over personal information. SCAM!
Caller: Jake from the DHHS
I received a text and a call from this number - did not seem like a hoax and still unsure if it is - he gave me lots of information and telephone numbers to call for further information relating to payment claims and he also gave me a CRM number. He also took my address & some other personal details. If this is a scam the DHHS will be chasing their arses as no one will respond to the text and phone call they are supposed to do on a daily basis (which they arent)!!!
Obviously, I tried to call back the DHHS now but it long waits - took me an hour and a half to get through to them the other day. FFS!
Next thing the people turning up at our doors will be scoping out our houses. What's the world coming to when you cant trust no one!!!
I am getting up to 9 sms messages a day telling me someone will contact me on this number and to be 'prepared to receive a call from the Department of Health' So far after 4 days of text no call has come. Seems sus especially when I call the number get an automated message that someone has tried to contact me. No option on phone to block number either as there is for normal messages. Any ideas how to stop these texts would be appreciated 2nd contact from this number apparently to book me in for my second pfizer vax.
Last night I told them I had already had both vaccinations and ended the call.
They have tried to make contact again today.
I'm suss as my vaccinations were done at work and I have never contacted the DHHS about it.
Caller: Department of Health
Department of Health calling to confirm I no longer need to quarantine at home - legitimate call which I was expecting today after 14-days of quarantining after a Tier-1 COVID-19 exposure.
SMS in bad English with an incorrect name saying I had to quarantine until tested. I’ve heard this scam, they try to get you to pay for a kit to get mailed to you. Caller: (03) 8624 4051
i received a call from (03) 8624 4051.and said they called from human service and wanted to talk to my wife about partner payment. i told them i am at work and my wife is at home.I asked reason why they call me but did not answer.just hang up the phone.
There seems to be the same commenters on this site posting across all of the 'number look-up' sites with the same messaging to trust this number. Which ironically makes me not trust the number. Surely DHHS is more savvy than this, which makes me believe it's a scam. Is it possible you're just a racist and presume anyone calling you with an Indian accent is trying to take your money? Caller: Jack - DHHS
Called me advising I hadn't had my second vaccine yet and made an appointment for me. Didn't ask any details. Knew where & what date I had 1st vaccine and received an email follow up with the appointment. Seems legit.
Got an SMS saying they will call me about my vaccination appointment. I don't know if scam or not but the scam watch website clearly says "Don’t give personal information to someone who calls you about the vaccine." https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/types-of-scams/current-covid-19-coronavirus-scams/covid-19-vaccination-scams Caller: (03) 8624 4051 DHS
This is not a scam number. It is the Covid 19 team at DHS. How do I know? I gave them 0 information except confirmed my name and they knew the date time and location of my next booking. Please answer the calls
The caller knew my full name and the date I had booked by 2nd vaccination. Said it was possible to change my booking earlier, and asked if I wanted to change. I declined and that was it. Seems pretty legit to me
