For all those who have had problems with this mob please fax through to to me a report of their actions on (08) 9456 1432 including the details of their malpractice or any other harassment they have performed on unwilling parties not associated with the alleged 'debt'. I am currently in the process of preparing a class action suit against them as so far evidence suggests they have breached the privacy act on multiple occasions, disclosing personal information to total strangers, and have unfairly and unjustly targeted individuals that had no debt slandering them by telling neighbors and friends they have debt outstanding which they don't. This consistent use of slander and malpractice will not be tolerated, and with your help we can make sure this bottom of the barrel scum goes away forever.

I work for Lion Finance and no I'm sorry we don't divulge personal information and no we don't even advise of our company name when calling third parties, it's all about protecting customer information.

We have a right to call third parties, neighbours, and your work to address your matters, lot of the time people will not even talk to use because their ashamed, embarrassed, or are simply too arrogant to care and that's the issue. If you don't talk to us we have other means to try and reach you in which we have legal grounds to do so.

In reference to the brother matter, yes you can request the contract but bear in mind that process needs to go through a vendor type request and the documents are not provided on day 1, it could take up and over a month as its reliant on the vendor to send the corresponding request for contract - bear in mind whilst it's waiting phone calls may continue to occur and that's out of the general control of individual customer service reps.

The whole glitter thing sorry Lion doesn't have staff who come to your mailbox and put letters in, quite absurd if we did, that would of come from someone close by to your address but that's all that can be said.

It is alarming that there are so many posts here making representations on behalf of debt collectors, who may or may not be operating within proper and lawful means! If someone needs advice, you are always at liberty to call a lawyer (-lists of suitably qualified practitioners are available from the Law Society Offices in each state and territory of Australia), the Police or the Government Fair Trading or State Consumer Advocate bodies to find out what debt collection practitioners can and cannot do, as they are empowered to advise you authoritatively. It is not the responsibility of anyone else, let alone a debt collection company (whose purpose it is to generate revenue from debt collection) to necessarily advise or help get you out of debt. Their interests are purely their own. If any person's family, friends or neighbours are being contacted or in any way harassed by any debt collection agency about an alleged debt which is not theirs, or over which they have no authority to make representation, the law is plain with regards to the wrongfulness of such behaviour. Please consider calling the Fair Trading or Consumer Advocacy body in your State for proper advice. Harassment and trespass can and ought to be reported to the Police in your State. This kind of blog site is not a forum for suitable or reliable legal advice, rather it simply facilitates views and opinions (which may or may not be correct).

Be Warned about Lion Finance

Posted on September 8, 2015

Lion Finance are bottom of the barrel debt collectors, it’s pretty much the last stop for an old debt, know your rights, some debts are Statute Barred, in that the time limit on enforcing proceedings to make you pay up are over, in most states this is a period of 7 years from the time you had previous contact or made a payment. They call you because they toe a fine line in that they can’t really make you pay so they don’t send a letter as that would or could get them into strife. No, they call you, make some unfounded threats about an old debt offer to do a deal if you pay up now and take payment over the phone via your credit card. Get everything in writing preferably tell them you will record the call and lodge a complaint with Financial Ombudsman https://www.fos.org.au/ you have rights and can be protected from callous and often malicious attempts and stand over tactics these scum employ.

Pay your debts and they won't call. They have rights to purchase debt. And they have rights to call you and demand payment.

I am incredibly astonished at the total incompetency of this firm and their inability to keep adequate records and behave in the legal way they are adurected in order to operate in the Finance sector. Despite very accommodating emails from me to the firm requesting no calls but email and mail and for debt validation documents be presented, Lion Finance have an automated hidden ID call system which randomly pumps up numbers to call. I have reported them to the ACCC and advised them as such - and still they are calling- since 2013! I am now legally entitled to make a claim on them for up $3000 for breach and harrassment. Thank you so much Lion Finance! I am so happy your company is so non-compliant! Some of us out here do know our rights, do keep track tecords and do communicate viable trackable method.

They call and call and call. They won't provide any proof a debt is owed or they are entitled to collect it.

Lion Finance called me today after being told explicitly in writing the debt is in dispute. I am sure they regularly check this listing so here is a message for you: Calling does not help. Calling is a breach of the code when you have been advised to communicate in writing. Buying bad debt and harrassing already struggling people is a really awful way to make money, it has no integrity, is a disgrace to the community and I feel sorry for you. I know you are just doing a job, but maybe look for something a little more rewarding. To all the people out there that are being called, dispute the debt. You have no contract with a third party until they have successfully pursued you in court. Court is not scary, this is where contract law and onus of full proof is upon the debt collectors. The sad awful fact is- they do not have your original contract and do not have the proof that would be required in a court of law to make a claim upon you. There is no obligation to pay or admit to anything you have not seen FULL proof of. If you are taken to court and you have requested full proof and it has been denied you, in court you explain this in plain terms to the judge, that you want to see your original contract and signature, that if the party indeed have purchased the contract, then they will have it and a bill of sale to prove. Only at that point should you even contemplate a discussion about any liability. Until then, they have no right to call you. Get a closing statement of any accounts form your banks/credit card original lenders and get everything IN WRITING. If that is produced in court but you have proof is was denied you earlier, you will not have to pay any legal fees because they have breached the disclosure rule. You may request the judge the legal fees are not upon you for the court matter because at all times, you asked for proof, at which point when fully satisfied, you would discuss anything that was proven.

Collection Agent

Lion Finance are one of the most reputable Debt Collection agencies you will come across. The company are within their legal boundaries to contact your home/mobile/place of work/relatives and neighbours. The reason for the contact is to assist you in resolving your outstanding debts. If you sign a contact with a bank or any other lender you are legally liable to pay back the money you borrowed. Lion Finance are not the ones breaking any laws its the person running from the debt. If you have legitimate reasons as to why you cant pay there are other alternatives in helping people resolve the matter. if you care about your financial future, take responsibility for what you owe.

Someone called my relatives home phone and I answered. A guy introduced himself and told me he was looking for my next door neighbor ..He said the house number and so called neighbour's name....asked me to put a note in their mail box if I can't tell them face to face that they are trying to contact them.
I thought this was pretty strange and even asked if this was legal...He said it was...and its up to me if I want to do this or not ..they then gave me a their name a reference number and this phone number.
Ridiculous. No privacy these days. I don't even know the people next door.

Scammers also use the old "debt recovery" line and bombard you with phone calls. So while this one may not be a scam their operational methods are very scammer-like. It's understandable why people would not believe them if they are using these methods.

That is false information, the debt will not stay on a credit file 'until resolved', it will stay on there for 5 (or 6IIRC) years from listing. A judgement also has a limited period. If you work for CLH Group, you are providing horribly misleading information. No wonder people hate companies like this, it's all scare tactics

I had a message on my home phone to ring 1800 708 124 and a reference number, and a first name was left, no business name. Google and this site advise me it's Lion Finance in Queensland. I ring the number and a person again answers the phone with their first name only, no company name. I provide the reference number. She proceeds to advise me she needs to confirm some details and asks me my date of birth. I advise that she has no business asking me my date of birth. I ask her what this is about and why she thinks I would advise some random stranger of anything personal. She says it's about my son. Now I recall a few weeks ago I had a call and someone asked if I knew a Joe Bloggs (Same last name as me), I said no, and no relative of mine. I presume this company is trying to track someone down. My son is 14. So that is a total lie that this could possibly be about my son. And I have never borrowed anything from any company other than my house from my bank. So it's obviously a fishing expedition. Possibly nothing illegal about it, but use your head when random strangers ring and ask you questions.
