I have been harassed by this number (03) 8644 2948 for the past 6 months, sometimes up to 13 times a day. I took the call the first time, had a lengthy conversation but when they asked for my ID i.e. credit card or passport, to be eligible for a 'promotion' they hung up on me when I questioned their authenticity. They have been ringing me ever since. I used to answer and ask them to stop ringing, now I don't answer but how do I stop them? Far out these people are persistent! Getting up to 10 calls a day! I told them to stop calling, only to be told no ma'am I haven't called u this is my first time!! Long story short, stopped answering this number, called telstra and number is now blocked, telstra advised that this number is popular as many people have blocked it!!! The same peanut that keeps calling me decided to change his name today - he was James last week and this week he is David! Kept asking me for my telephone account details and when I asked for his ID details he got cranky and wouldn't give them. The 3rd time he called today he got a major serve! Hasn't stopped him from phoning though! Even if I take the phone off the hook for a while - there's at least 5 missed calls from this particular number! I also get numerous calls from these people and even though I have some fun with them at times, I even have told them after a long discussion that unfortunately I enjoyed their chat but have to go as I've just Brocken into the place and I think the owners have arrived (it was my house by the way) and they still ring even after speaking nicely not to ring to a deafening scream on the other end. Just registered my number with do not call and I'm going to see if my phone provider can block them. OMG these people - 3 times a day they call ......
They just tried to get my medicare card number out of me and then gave me a telephone number - pretending it was mine and asked me to confirm it.
I asked for written information from them prior to agreeing to anything and was assured that I would get this afterwards
I received 16 calls from (03) 8644 2948 just today and I am pissed. I ended up ringing Telstra and they have blocked this number ringing me anymore, they gave me also a reference number to ensure I have recourse. I also as added protection registered on the 'do not call register', cheek of them they were calling me when I was on the phone to Telstra to stop them calling. I don't need this crap......Take my advice, call your provider. Sorry businesses unfortunately your stuck with them as they can't stop these calls on business lines. So this number kept calling obviously was not telstra even though claiming to be. We asked to be removed from calling list this aggregated it and they called more. My hubby threatened to report to police for harassment didn't affect them they kept calling. So we called telstra and they have blocked the number from calling ours and sending an info booklet to us so we are able to register and block nuisance numbers ourselves from now on. Much better than arguing or getting frustrated as we were. Good luck everyone else if on a different provider might be worth asking if they will do the same. getting call to my business at least 20 times a day from this number. Spoke to telstra & they said I should go to a silent number or be placed on the do not call register. both are not an option as it is my business line. absolutely fed up Seriously, how do you think these little "Curries" have our information? You can thank Telstra for that. Telstra employ overseas companies in the likes of Malaysia, India and so on to take our calls. One or more of the sleazy little grubs has sold off our information. Telstra gets very defensive when you mention this to them and they say that they support their off shore employees. Hmm, ask yourself why.
Why you think there is so much Credit Card fraud? Same reason - our information is going off shore. The banks don't give a damn as the wages they are saving (they work for the equivalent of Au$10 and hour or less) covers the cost of fraud. When you think about it, that's a lot of wages saved.
I also have been getting calls from this (03) 8644 2948 and other numbers and private numbers as well and call about 10 times a day and keep giving fake names as all Indians guys or ladies. I keep telling them off about it and to stop calling me and keep calling and who ever is home will answer will tell them the same and when you tell them off they say so angry and continue to speak about the discount offer. My number is private and I still don't know how they're got my details and also they know what home plan I am on.
I have signed up with Donotcall and email the ombudsman today so hopefully it works.
TELE BYTE THAT WORKS FOR TELSTRA???????Got a call from this number (03) 8683 5984, Called the first time, answered, and gave him my license number, as through the conversation I had realized that it was a scam. I hung up and was just about to go to the last verification bit on the phone, they called back several time and said that I have all ready signed something bla bla bla... am I in trouble for giving them my license number? You what?? I have reported this number to ACMA - lets see if the damn regulator we pay a fortune for will do something to shut these clowns down. My wife has has a few days of peace and quiet after blowing a whistle in their ear. Cheers mate. These f*ckers need to be taught a lesson. Cold calling should be illegal in Australia. how does one report the number as spam and how do I stop them from daily calling and hanging up ? This (03) 8644 2948 number ringing for several days also was ringing months ago...all operators with a heavy Indian accent....they want to verify who they are speaking to before they give any information...I ask who is this..? they give a nonsense name like Ben...then I ask what is your other name...they said Hur....mate I said if you are Ben Hur then my name is Rajib Punjab. Another guy said his name was John...I asked what his surname was....he said Smith......I said I don't speak with anyone I don't know & that the name he gave me was not correct...he said yes it is my call centre name...!! I said in Australia we only have 1 name & anything else is BS....today the girls name was Anna ....after persisting she gave me the surname as Williams with a company name of "One Dial" 1300 906 305 in South Melbourne. I said that is not your name & you are dialing from overseas as I can hear the bips...I said this is a scam...she wanted to argue & say how did I know * what evidence do I have...I said tell what trhe weather is like in Melbourne then if you are here....she hung up.....NOW THE GOOD NEWS....this harassment has motivated me to check the features of my phone.....check the menu & go to BLOCKING & register the number.....no more calls from John Smith, Anna Williams & BEN HUR...!! enjoy Figotelecom....................I gave them my DOB and Medicare number.

They will not stop, and they also use alternate numbers in which they will call you. One solution is to grab yourself a whistle and when they begin their talk, blow it as hard as you can. Then when they threaten to sue you will know who they are... Lol. They called my fax line every 20 mins so I called them and abused them, now they phone my fax and speak to the squealing machine instead ;)
