Just got a call from them myself. First identified themselves as Telstra and tried to convince me the NBN was coming to my place in a few days which I knew they weren't. Then asked again who they were and final said Prism Telecom, so I said no thanks and hung up.

You can always tell an India phone scam by the background noise.

These guys tried this on me. Got rid of them quick.

After having had my phone service briefly 'stolen' a few years ago by some other con artists (I said 'yes' during the conversation for a reason other than agreement but they used that recorded 'yes' anyway) I have always been hyper vigilant against these sales tactics.

Why do they do it? well because it works. As you can see here and elsewhere there are plenty of people confirming and providing more of their info. Do not do this!
If they are not giving you an opportunity to tell them to go away then just hang up!
Annoyed by constant calls? INVEST IN CALL BLOCKING (there are advanced features available now, don't want to advertise but do research. I have a great working solution).
Watch what you say as per my own experience. Do not say yes, agree etc. as it can be deliberately taken out of context.
No matter how small your 'footprint' they get your details easily through public databases and companies selling info (and sometimes stealing) between each other. Just stop blindly giving them confirmation and then even more info.
Commit to immediately auto rejecting all unsolicited calls! Giving them patronage gives them cause to use the same tactics against other people.
Lastly onedial, prismtelecom, telebyte etc. all the same. Large sections of their websites are copy/paste with minor colour scheme and logo changes sometimes being only difference.
They remind me of the senate ballot paper where instead of votes, these guys direct cash all to one place.

tldr: Commonsense and call blocking are all you need.

Got sucked in to Prism Telecom today! After some internet research I realised their bad reviews... called them back to cancel! Hours on mobile & no formal confirmation that it has been canceled! I'm scared a bill will come and will lose my Telstra contact and muck up my internet!!!

when I received their call I questioned whether they were with Telstra and was told they were a part of Telecom, totally independant and nothing to do with Telstra, I now realise that Telecom was the original Telstra and hasn't existed for a long time...its going to cost me for my stupidity but I am changing back...

They have caused me monumental grief. Long story short, I never signed with them, and after x amount of harassment calls, simply stopped answering. Little did I know that they were leaving messages on my landline as I never answered my landline and they disconnected me from Telstra. A week with out internet. Had to resign with Telstra with a new home number (my previous number was such a goodie too) a new email address (I loved my old email address). Received a bill about 1 month ago from them for $450! Really? Just returned to sender. I have now received a text message from Dunn and Bradstreet. I am assuming it is to do with the Telebyte bill. Not sure what to do now..........does anyone have any thoughts?

Prism telecom has called me almost every day often two and three times a day. I have continually asked them to STOP calling me. Each time I am assured that my number will be taken off the list. Each time they ask for a different person. The last call I had said is this graham? When I again asked not to call me , again to take my number out of the system . I asked the callers name to which the now irate person on the other end of the phone said HIS name was Graham!! A coincidence.
I have now told them I will report any further calls as harassment
When I asked where he got my number he said I filled in a request to have them contact me which I certainly did not
The number has also called and talked about my electricity bill

How can I get them to STOP

I am so glad I googled this whilst talking to the sales rep from Prism Telecom. I was told I wouldn't have to pay for local calls, that my internet speed would increase and would have unlimited downloads, too good to be true!!! I kept questioning him, at first he said he was from Telecom, but what made the alarm bells ring was when he said we are an Indian Telecom company, Prism Telecom... I quickly googled this and found all these other reviews... thank goodness.

This 03 number has been calling me all day, so I finally gave in...... beware everyone.

AAAH I am not alone then it seems! .. Pushy plus.. I am not easily pushed into anything but they are relentless in their hard sell mumbo jumbo ... they do not give up.. They too lied to me about the NBN and that was the speil that made me believe I had to do this .. no choice because of the rollout which they said would take place in 2 weeks in my area... pffft! what a lie! I found out from Telstra it will be YEARS before it comes to our area... I rang Telstra and told them I wanted to stay with them and that Prism wouldnt let me "out" .. Telstra changed my phone staright back.... I told Prism this and when I outed the lies they said I wouldnt have to pay the phone connection fee... THEN I get a bill for nearly $400 .. I told them I refused to pay it because it was under false pretenses they moved me from Telstra and told me OUTRIGHT LIES.... they threatened to put it in the hands of a debt collector..... then the latest is they have reduced the bill to " help" me to around $80.. I am NOT paying them a cent.. it is criminal the way they are doing this... Maybe if I threaten them with calling a number on THE DO NOT CALL LIST" (me) and the REALLY hefty fine involved for doing that it might get rid of them... but whatever.. I REFUSE to pay them
BEWARE!! Telecom Prism - hang u p if they call you

For last two weeks keep receiving calls to my mobile from Prism Telecom, with the usual "to good to be real" spiel. today again another call, asking if I received a letter in mail, to which I made no reply. Then, 12 I said listen to me - take my number off your list and do not call me again. My question is who is giving these people our phone numbers and names. It is harassment that they keep calling. Will be contacting the Telecommunication Ombudsman if they call again. It is a pity that Prism Telecom do not understand the word "NO". I cut them short each time, & today was longest call 27 seconds. Another of their phone numbers is (03) 8683 5941.

I am with telebyte (unfortunately) every month I have to ring them about my bill. I live with my ninety one year old dad and since June I have only been connected to the internet once (although I am paying for it) once meaning one day and last Wednesday our phone line went dead, so we have no internet or phone now and I spent an hour on my mobile, trying to get some sense and connection, no luck, its costing me a fortune in mobile calls now. What do I do? They have disconnected me but are still sending bills because they say I am not disconnected, how does that work? Its sending me mental, dad needs the phone for emergencies, I have bought him a mobile, how do I get out of this contract and mess?

This number rang me purporting to be associated with the NBN system rollout.
The Indian guy (now it seems he was from an overseas call-centre) went on asking me what my landline number was so that he could check if I was eligible for NBN in my ears.
Eventually he told me he was from OneDial and that their rates were better than Telstra.
I told him I wasn't really interested but he refused to accept my verdict and asking me why I wouldn't take up their offer.
I told him not to ring me back but he did.... two more times.
Haven't heard from them since.
BTW.... all of this only happened after I responded to a fake MYER email.

I had my suspicions about this being a scam. My husband was not happy about me listening to them. Said they were working with Telstra & Vodofone & using their lines. He knew so much about me I was surprised. He read of the spiel of saving money on my internet & phone calls & promising a huge increase in Internet bytes. It all sounded so feasible & we all like to save money. He kept saying it was being recorded for training purposes. His name was Gerard & a manager. He asked for ID so I gave him my Medicare card number. But I started to feel uneasy when he read that Prism Telecom were an independent company & not part of Telstra or Vodofone. Who were these people & did Telstra give permission for them to hack into Telstra customers private details. I said to him after giving him my Medicare number ID & giving a verbal yes that I didn't want to go through with it & I will do my own research. Which I have done & my instinct was right & my husband said 'I told you so'.

Same deal here, but on number 8683 7184. This number called my mobile and said they were Telebyte Australia and they use the Telstra network. My call went similarly to alot of other peoples, especially those talking about this company on the Telstra Crowd Support webpage. They put me on to a Manager when I asked lots of questions. They said they could give me a better service than I am getting now. I told them I didn't know how much I normally pay on my telephone bills (even though I did) and they said they could do it for $124 per month, which is actually slightly more expensive than I am paying now. They said this was for all included calls and unlimited data. I told them they couldn't help me because I am a long way from the exchange and Telstra are limited by their equipment, which means anyone else using Telstra equipment wont be able to get me a better service. I told them that if they confirmed in writing that they could guarantee a better service then I would think about it. He said he would do that but he needed all of this information from me first and that the call was being recorded. He started talking about what it would cost to cancel the contract etc and it sounded like he was reading me a contract. I told him that I wasn't interested in going any further unless I saw the email confirming the better service. He wouldn't let me hang up saying, just two more minutes. I started to get angry and told him I didn't have time but he kept insisting he was nearly finished. I terminated the call at 21 minutes and he hadn't got to asking me any of my personal details other than my home number. Very agressive sales department or maybe some identity fraud going on. It sounded like a very busy call centre in the background, possibly Indian accents.Jeff Muskett was the consultants name and his ID was CC04026. If you are concerned about your personal data or that this might be a scam you should report it on the SCAM WATCH website
