Telebyte are rude and wont listen to you

Please be warned about telebyte.

Telebyte cannot deliver the minimum of 8mbps they said they could to me [regional customer]

I DO NOT want to deal with their RUDE STAFF... EVER.
They cold call me, promise what they cannot deliver and when I realise and call them on it and advise that I do not wish to proceed, the staff were rude [beyond belief] to me - give me the run around of different sales people and then accuse me of wasting their time. Then they continue to phone and harass me - excess of 12 calls!- I've had their number blocked now and they have been calling from another number.
be Warned and beware

They are the worst - and have no idea of what constitutes customer service.
even if they could provide a cheaper service for for my area, knowing how rude they are is enough reason not to use them.

I have just had an experience with Telebyte. They rang and I agreed to confirm their offer if they supplied me with written information which would help make an better informed decision. Never received it. The next communication I had was a Telebyte modem couriered to my door. I wrote a message saying as I had not received the promised material to read I did not want the modem or anything to do with the company. They cut my internet connection on Christmas Eve. I immediately contacted my current provider to find out what was going on. That is how I know it was Telebyte. I have just got off the phone with them. They basically told me I had broken the contract and that would cost. And as I remember this was a considerable amount. After a heated debate in which unfortunately I used some very choice language, something I normally avoid in business phone conversations, I told them that I was prepared to go to court to fight this based on my experience with them. Consequently no cancellation costs. Gillian I totally agreed with you that they targeting older people. In the first contact with them they knew my name and date of birth and I'm in their target group. Steer clear!! They are bullies. Carol they will not contact you and if my experience is anything to go by you will be unable to contact them. You are not stupid just trusting.

Just got a call from Telebyte Australia. Talked to Ricky... His English name I presume.
Looked up their abn number, they are also One Dial, Prism Telecom and Telco.
Ricky did not want to let me go after I told him over and over again that I would not give him my credit card details over the phone. It might not be a scam but when you google a company and the first thing that comes up is this page, I do not feel to comfortable giving out my details...

HI guys

I have had the same issue with Prism Telecom. They said they were working with Telstra as a subcontractor and my bills will be less. They hit me with a bill of over $1000 and then when I said I was going to complain to the ombudsman they brought it down to $828 and I will not pay this amount for services not provided. I contacted the ACCC and registered a complaint today. I did an ASIC Search which came up with this - https://connectonline.asic.gov.au/RegistrySearch/faces/landing/bn/SearchBnRegisters.jspx?_adf.ctrl-state=1dg492of2u_61
and then I googled the address on there and it is a house address in Glen Waverely - http://www.onthehouse.com.au/6485117/348_gallaghers_rd_glen_waverley_vic_3150

These guys are a SCAM!!!!!!!

i was scammed, i emailed telstra over it since PRISM told me i was talking to telstra
---------

Hello,

I am a dodo customer but i run through your lines and have had workers out to my house recently (i am still waiting on someone to come fix a fault on the line outside the house)
I received a phone call in the past half an hour from a lady claiming to be you,
Telstra.

she said that we were getting NBN rolled out soon in my area and in the mean time since there are such bad drop outs/line issues (my phone was static on and off the whole call) they were doing a new deal for the telstra members in Rowville. and coming to fix the line with in the next month. i was ecstatic over this seeing as i've been have my net drop and my phone rubbish my whole 3 months here.

so only after i confirmed with the supervisor my Drivers license and my date of birth, he told me he was Prism telecom.

i was lied to from the get go, they took my details and now i am freaking out they will try and steal my identity/credit rating / money from my bank account.

i dont know what to do but i did get their details.
i had to ask him 4 times for the number before he would give it to me.
he also denied they were cold calling telstra customers and said only after i pressured him, "it not reeeeally ""cold calling"" more like warm calling".

his details

Michale

worker number - in0142

said mail discont
to get no more higher bills from dodo
prism telecom

1300 306 983 .

--------------

i read on your page to report any thing like this and dodo didn't really help me when i told them.

i know i will likely have to go through the Ombudsmen, but i am freaking out a touch.

Prism is a very devious scam targeting people on low income ,as i am one. They offer cheaper services which on reflection if it sounds so good then think first as it is probably a load of crap . I know this now as i was caught out . Google any company that offers any product that sounds too good to b true.

These guys started my land line number and kept harrising my wife to confirm the order for their home broadband plan. Today when I called their Customer Care number the support guy was so rude to ask me to have my wife call them to cancel the what so ever plan she unknowingly accepted.
When I called them again and threatened of registering a complaint they said they will process the order cancellation.

It's hard to know whether this is a scam or just a very unscrupulous company. They definitely exist, as an offshore telco, with genuine service BUT they lie indiscriminately when touting for your business. I recorded my call, which began like this "hi, this is Michael and I'm calling on behalf of the Australian Government. We have been contracted to implement the NBN in country areas. Your area will be connected at the end of July and we are ensuring a smooth switch-over from the existing copper-wire network to the NBN, without any interruption to your service." The name "Prism Telecom" wasn't mentioned until I asked (repeatedly) for the company name. This is a pretty ballsy lie for a company cold-calling for new business.

These mob from engine kept harassing me, offering ridiculous deals like $30 unlimited mobile calls pm and unlimited internet access for an extra $50 pm. One day this Pakistani (James) called and told me that my laptop was riddled with viruses and that hackers from Rome, Russia and england were trying to access my information. James:-) said he could get rid of the viruses and stop these "hackers" for a price of $440.00. I told James that I have no internet banking or anything to do with money. We were chatting live, then next thing I was just mind blown watching my computer screen as so called James had somehow got into my bank and was setting up a direct debit for this $440. I rang westpac and spoke to one lady and was explaining how could this James access my banking details and told her that I am watching him organizing a direct debit as we speak. The lady was really nice and put a block on so called Engine straight away, then she told me they were scammers. I'm so glad and obviously changed to another company but researched first.

You said that: "Thankfully I realised in enough time (last day of cooling off period) to get out of the deal, last day being today." However, you were unusually lucky to have this opportunity. Prism Telecom is part of a long term scamming group known colloquially as the "ex-Time Telecom group" http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1091483&p=11#r202 . it comprises a large number - 61 at last count http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1091483&p=11#r207 - of utilities all operating illegally using "passing off" techniques (viz. pretending to be Telstra) to slam (churn, ie. move, without legal permission) phone accounts to these entities. Last October one of their companies, Zen Telecom, was convicted of a range of offences http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1091483&p=11#r220 , a number involving not meeting cooling off period obligations (eg. failing to supply a contract within 5 says, not telling customers of their cooling off rights, supplying services within the 10 days, etc). Have look at that thread and you'll see a lot of detail of other linked companies and their long term scamming strategy. Significantly, though the call centres are Indian, a major Australian wholesaler has been shown to be funding it http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2305864&#r13 .

Had a call today from Prism Telecom via my home phone. Male caller with very difficult to understand accent, probably fillipino ? He announced his name was Peter Wilson (LOL). Sure Pete as pink pigs fly past my window. I'm with Club Telco & get line rental & Unlimited ADSL 2+ for $70 p/m less 5% for having net & line with them. (there's a mini scam charge of $80 p/a to be a club member, LOL but just a little). Their contract is month to month & transportable to another address should you move, subject to a line being available etc. Also they buy their data via Telstra so all has been very reliable in the year that I've been with them. I'm in Sydney's Metro West & about 3km from the exchange. Speed wise it's reasonably adequate but until the snail pace NBN rollout gets here that's about the best of the rest for value etc. Prism told me they'd do me a real FAVOUR & give me a real sweet deal @ $90 p/m & when pressed hard about the contract period "PETE" revealed it was 24 months. I replied "why would I go with that when I'm paying less than $70 p/m with Club Telco on a month to month basis" ? He said - "standby for a minute while I check on what I can do for you". "PETE" soon came back to me with a "SUPPOSED" better than matching deal of $60 p/m ($6.50 cheaper) & month to month ? Supposedly with no extra changes over/start up fees ? I declined as I hate pressure tactics & I've had calls from Prism before, females with a fillipino type accent jibber. 2 said they were from Melbourne & 1 said they were based in North Sydney ? I'm staying with Club Telco as @ $1.50 p/w it's not worth the risk or bother. Collectively we consumers can bring these Rougue telenet providers "TO HEEL". Just like what VODAFONE got recent years ago when through contempt of their customers. 160,000 bailed out, including me, with most switching over to Telstra. Vodafone subsequently had huge losses & Telstra shares are now at record highs.
My personal policy of not signing up for ANYTHING via COLD CANVASSING calls over the years has served me well. I will continue on that pathway until I'm too old & feeble to care, LOL & cheers.
