Caller: Someone called feroz

I had just had someone out to check my phone as it kept dropping out. Needed a new modem. So when I got a call from 9174 3000 explaining they needed to identify me before sending out the new one .I believed it to be legit. Unfortunately I gave my licence and Medicare number before I started getting suspicious about the need for all this info. Now I dont know what to do. They did say I could ring optus and check , which I did . And they said this number is not ours. Having given my info what do I do ?

Caller: Claiming to be Optus

Just recieved a call from this number a female claiming to be from Optus was asking if I wanted to upgrade my plan and purchase a new phone. Luckily I was actually busy and asked her to call back later but I had a bad feeling about the call so I searched the number. I won't be answering again as most likely is a scam.

Call from this number didn't leave a message. Other recipients here have identified this as possibly Optus re complaints. Whilst I am an Optus customer I haven't had any contact with them so they definitely wouldn't be calling me about anything that they had to respond to. I'd be cautious to engage given they've already abused my data confidentiality.

Received call from this number today. Lots of background noises. Hesitant that it was a scam, i kept quiet. And the caller didnt say a word too. after about 30 seconds, they hung up. Definitely a shady call. If they were from a real organisation, they would say hello and introduce themselves

While the number was ringing me, I searched here. Copied the link and messaged them back, then promptly blocked the number. Scammers note, some of us don’t answer unknown numbers and search for them before responding. If it’s legit, you get a call back. If your number appears on Reverse Aus or any similar site, you are at best ignored, at worst tracked and arrested.

Caller: Supposedly Optus

A female said she was from Optus but I rang Optus this week to verify another call supposedly from Optus however OPTUS had no record of calling me on my account. I replied to the female caller who said she was ringing from Optus “You are not from Optus. Stop trying to scam people”.

The number appeared as (02) 9174 3000. The guy was Asian and said he was FROM OPTUS... and he asked for my last name and date of birth. I asked him to confirm WHO HE WAS. He couldn't... I believe he was a scam.

I have received many phone calls from this number and they never leave a message. When you call it back, it sounds like some generic Optus switch board. I contacted Optus through their messenger app and the customer service agent informed me that this was not an Optus number and to report it to the scam watch government website which I did. This is a scam phone number.

Optus needs to get their act together regarding data hack security and treat their customers with dignity and respect

Claimed they were from Optus contacting long-time customers to ensure they were getting best value for money with new offerings available. Started to ask me to confirm personal ID information, so I advised I was uncomfortable doing this when they called me and it was unsolicited by me. When I asked if I could follow up through an official Optus number or website he advised I could call back on 'this number' – not an advertised Optus number. So did not call back.

A women called said she was from Optus offering 25% discount on my plan and a free upgrade to a Samsung A30 mobile (hahahaha) when I queried the offer it went up to 50% discount on the plan. She said they had my phone number but needed to confirm my postcode which I said if they had my details they would already know this. After a bit of back and forth I told her to bugger off and hung up. Scam for sure. Number now blocked.

Caller: Optus?

Received a call that lasted about 5 seconds before I could even answer it, noticed I got a message with an audio file attached? Since when have automated voice messages been sent via an audio file? Seems like a scam for sure.
