Caller: 24/7 on behalf of Optus. Subcontractor of Optus who persist in calling and not leaving voicemail. When I initially contacted Optus, I specifically asked not to be phoned and to be contacted via email. They never take any notice. I don't answer unknown numbers, as I'm sick and t owed of fending of scam calls since being caught up in the Optus data breach.

Caller: Optus This is a legit Optus number. I have been having issues with my NBN (pre-cyber attack) and Optus case management just phoned to let me know there is an outage with NBN affecting 36 customers and they will be monitoring my services. I have also just received an SMS to say the above.

Caller: Offshore IT Support Team from Optus Doubted this call in the vert beginning as they tried to call me twice in one minute. As much as it sounded like a scammer calling, the caller was actually calling from a call centre in India on behalf of Optus, following up on a technical issue I have with their service. The caller asked for my Last Name and Postcode, before sending me a one-time code to confirm my identity. The caller's instructions were occasionally hard to follow because of the accent and the background noise, but with some patience they got my issue fully resolved.

Caller: As with the other comments so called Optus representatives Poor accent, muffled originator. Optus mentioned. Demands my name and DOB. Refused. Called them scammers. They followed up with many SMSs over the past week. Checked out with staff at Optus store who confirmed that it’s NOT their number. Confirming scam. Just hang up and block these scum.

Caller: (02) 9174 3000 Missed call from this number. No voicemail. Guessing it may be an optus person as I have recently switched from them to vodaphone for the cheaper plans.

Caller: Optus It was a legit Optus service person following up an issue I had raised - and spoke to them with earlier. If they use a (same) generic number - probably should let us know. :-)

I called Optus 1800 550 395 to enquire about plans. It was silent on the other end then the line hung up. Almost immediately this number called me, when I picked up it was silent on the other end.

I had just finished cancelling a plan and updating my billing address with Optus that I called. Then few minutes later after hanging up and starting a new call, missed call from this number. No message left.

Phone rang and I it stopped before I could pick up the phone . Assumed it was a scam. I have been in rouch with Optus this week so presumably it was their contractor as per other posts. Not going to ring them back.

I lodged an Optus complaint a couple of hours ago regarding my data being hacked in 2022. I lodged a complaint via their online form. I just received two text messages from Optus regarding a number to call plus a mobile call at the same time from this number (02) 9174 3000.
UNSAFE: Since receiving those two texts plus mobile phone call, my mobile phone is now repeatedly turning itself on and off. How can anyone trust any communication received from Optus under these circumstances?
OPTUS, if you're reading this, it appears your website security is also compromised because all of this occurred immediately after simply using your Optus online form to lodge my complaint, which means I can't securely go direct to Optus to tell them about this.

Caller: Optus This is Optus' sales team. I confirmed it with the Optus service department. They should do better in identifying the number, but it was legitimate.

Caller: Optus I can confirm that this is a number that Optus uses... as I called them first and the same fellow who assisted me initially is calling me back on this number. That said, considering what tech can do these days; I wouldn't recommend trusting any calls unless you called the person yourself in the first instance. I specifically have a silent landline in the hopes that it can not be hacked and if they have to follow up, they are to call me on that.

I had 2 missed calls from this number but no message sent, reading the above makes it an obvious scam because I have never had any account with Optus in my life - the number rang has been mine for over 20 years??
