Advised it was Optus calling about the internet connection issue I talked with them earlier that day. The caller did mention the drop out issue I was experiencing, however I was not expecting a call back. The caller advised they will be sending me a code to confirm account and I straight away advised that I was not going to tell them any codes I receive as I know that is what scammers use to access accounts.

Some fast talking guy from 'Optus'. Knew my name, said he was calling optus customers who were out of contract. Did I want a new phone, contract anything at all? Told him I wasn't out of contract and he hung up.

I had been getting calls from this number over the past few motnhs. Upon (every time) checking this forum, I decided to just message Optus myself to confirm.
From this, I got a response from "Talitha" that:
"Unfortunately I can confirm the calls are from Optus or it's a spam.
Reason because Optus do give a call customers regarding the marketing offers which will not be updated for us to view."

After confirming I wanted these calls to stop I got a reponse that:
"I have blocked all the marketing calls from my end, this means you will no longer receive any marketing calls from any random numbers here after"

Got a call from this number today and the lady said she was from Optus. Asked about my Optus business account and if she could look into other plans. I didn’t have a business account but played along and said I’m extremely happy with the service. The call ended there and then I googled and that’s how I’m here! Stay safe!

Sadly a lot of comments complaining that OPTUS is incompetent rather than recognising that OPTUS is no less a victim than its customer base. Poor form, customers. OPTUS did not welcome the scam, and they certainly are not the only telco or organisation to have their databases breached.

I lodged a complaint regarding number (07) 9174 3000 using the email address on Optus’ website... abuse @ optusnet.com.au. I assumed, like many other Optus Customers, that it was a scam caller. A got an immediate response from Optus saying it was in fact a REAL Optus number. Apparently, it is the Sales Team (who obviously don’t like leaving messages). My guess is that the Sales Team is hard at work trying to recoup the huge financial losses that occurred since the customer data breach. Wrong people to try & sell your product to. Just sayin’.

I didn't recognise this number so I answered and but said nothing. No one said hi, are you there?, hello, nothing. Just heard a lot of noise then whoever it was hung up.
Must have been very very important.

They steal numbers and use for they scams. Unfortunately there is no protection any number can be returned pretty easily and it is also damaging businesses since they target those numbers the most.

99.999% sure its actually Optus as they sent an sms verification, and email to let me verify myself. and those were both legit optus emails and sms verification.

Answered call from this number silently (Didn’t say Hello), nothing said at other end nor mine for 54 seconds until I ended the call. Heard male breathing and grunts. Office noises.

Got a call just now from a lady saying she's from Optus. Asked if she was speaking to ..... then tried to offer me a special bundle from Optus. Asked me to confirm my postcode and that's when I knew it was a scam and said I wasn't interested and hung up.
