Same story as everyone else. If something is too good to be true it probably is...

No phone number but I just enquired about a 2014 Mazda 3, received exactly the same email from Isabella Luisa, RAAF email, and story about being in Devonport and being posted to NZ for 3 years.

Thank you to all of the previous posts.

Yes, same story for me except the name is Isabella Luisa and she's apparently selling a 2015 I30. She won't talk on the phone but emailed a photo and licence to make it look genuine.

Holy sh*t I almost got scammed by this guy, thank god I thought to just search their name here and thank god for all you good people. It was also from a defence @ royal-australian-air-force-gov.com which I thought was weird (use your own personal email for this sh*t!). This listing was originally found on CarsGuide. This one was a Toyota Corolla 2014 with 47km on clock. Pics of the car had number plate 1BE 5YZ. Same deal as everyone above wanting me to put $7k into ESCROW.

Here's the email I got: Thank you for contacting me and sorry for taking so long to reply, I've been messed around by one previous buyer for lack of funds, I can confirm that the car is still for sale and never been involved in an accident, Nobody has smoked in it, I've attached some pictures so you can take a closer look at the car, excellent condition without any damage or scratches at all, Mechanically A1, it's a fantastic car, only travelled 47000kms, all of which being said I expect to get $7,000 for it. The only reason for selling this car so cheaply is because I am involved in a project and I will move to New Zealand on February 27th and not come back for the next 3 years. It's the first time I've been to New Zealand and I'm a little nervous but excited at the same time. It would be a shame to keep the car in the garage for 3 years without being used and I also need some cash before leaving for New Zealand. Right now I am located in Devonport TAS, because our squad it's doing some special training, and in case you decide to buy the car, I will deliver it to your address with our RAAF truck (Transport insurance is included). Besides, it's free and I will give you a 7 days inspection period so you can take the car to a mechanic and test it before I receive your money. Also, It will come with a Roadworthy Certificate and VIC Rego, so you don't have to do the running around, Registration paid until 18/03/2021.
You’ll love the car, I can guarantee you that.

Bless you all and hope no-one else gets caught by him.

Hi, I have replied to your email, you need to search in your inbox carefully and also check your bulk/spam/junk folder because the email could be there. The car is here with me in the base garage and in case you decide to buy it, I will deliver it to your address, Besides, it's free and I will give you a 7 days inspection period so you can take the car to a mechanic and test it before I receive your money. I think it is a fair thing to do. In case you decide not to keep the car I will have it shipped back with no extra charges for you, also, the car will be shipped with our RAAF cargo boat and from harbor with the truck (Transport insurance is it included). I have a contract with Escrow so this deal must go through them. If you wish to go further, let me know your details (full name, full address and home phone number) so I can open a transaction with them and declare you as the buyer, they will then contact you and explain the whole process in details, You must know that Escrow will contact you without any obligation to buy or to pay some fees (Fees will be paid by me). I am looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you again Joel Pettit

This prick is still scamming! Partner found a hilux he’s selling for $13,000- sent an email & spouted all the rubbish he’s written to everyone else. So glad I googled his name & the made up email:

defence @ royal-australian-air-force-gov.com

I feel sorry for the people he’s taken money off- will report him to whoever we need to

Received all of the same emails from "Joel Pettit" regarding a Mazda 3.
Do not send your details, photo of ID and do not transfer funds.
I suspect that scammers are possibly not based in Australia. Communications are aligned with UK/Europe timezone, bank account is with NAB in Sydney, but account name is HiFX - a UK-based foreign exchange. Below are the bank details sent to me.

Escrow Bank Account Details:

Beneficiary Bank Recipient's Account Name: HiFX Ltd
Beneficiary BSB: 082057
Beneficiary Bank Account Number: 856300983
Beneficiary Bank: National Australia Bank

Also, emails are coming from defence @ royal-australian-air-force-gov.com which is not a valid defence resource email address.

We were close to being scammed by ‘Joel Pettit’ last night, selling a Hyundai i30 for $6000, 2014 model with roughly 32,000 on the clock. Same old story about RAAF, stationed in Tas and heading to NZ. Communication via email identical to others I have read here. Thankfully, we didn’t send any photos of our identity. He couldn’t provide a photo of his licence (which he had already sent a photo of) next to the VIN plate, nor a photo of the dash with the odo reading. He sent a photo of a donkey/ass instead. We outsmarted the a-hole, but the next person may not be so lucky. Do not send a photo of you holding your license, as it will be used in future ads to scam others.

Matthew Pettit ....based at RAAF base in Tasmania which doesn't exist ...being deployed to New Zealand ...who are at war ...what a laugh . Will get RAAF to deliver car to you free of charge ....as they do 🤣

Still at it ....same photo of black Suzuki Swift ..same great low price and low kilometres...same number plate ...have complained and ad taken down but it just keeps coming back ..with suburb of car changed. Same with Hyundai i30 and no doubt more bargain cars.

Disappointing that nothing gets done and ad reappears with non existent car in different location so chance of more people losing their money . BEWARE
