Same sh*t scam as everyone else. FURIOUS because it upset my elderly parents who got the call. Woman recording sounds like a robotic voice..She said she's from Centrelink and due to no response to their correspondence the file is moved to Canberra head office. They have to apply to them for pension increases and quote reference no. 080456!!! My parents number is PRIVATE.. Bloody Hell...they shouldnt be getting these SCAM calls!!!

Same thing as everyone else. When I rang the number I got a strange echoey Indian male voice repeating Peter Peter Peter - went round in circles and hung up. Rang Centrelink and was advised it was a scam and to report them to the ACCC. I rang the (02) 9099 1773 number back as I was typing up the report to Scamwatch (ACCC) I requested to be told what name was attached to the Application Number 080456 and got nowhere. He kept masking me for my details and I refused to give them to him stating it should be attached the the Application Number if he was for real. I asked him what Centrelink Call Centre he was in he gave a smart reply "You do not hear voices in the background I am not in a Call Centre"- and became a bit of a smart mouth - still refusing to answer questions that Centrelink had advised me to ask. I eventually said he was a scammer and I was typing up a report to the ACCC - he then said he would send the Police around to "disconnect me"?? Send them, they are a lovely bunch of guys - know them well. He could hear me typing so I read out what I was writing to the ACCC - he then told me he would block the number I was ringing him on and to "f*ck Off" and hung up on me. Luckily this little old lady wasn't born yesterday! LOL!!

States its about my pension being revised and I've not responded to mailed correspondance so my pension increase is delayed till I respond. Gave a reference to quote and call them back. Called back and put on hold but then they hung up.

Funny thing is, the number they called is a business line.

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!

I received a recorded message from a female on my answering machine. She advised that I had not responded to the letters forwarded to me from Centrelink. She further claimed that Centrelink had tried to contact me many times and had forwarded application forms to me which I was required to complete and return, but had failed to do so. She said that the letters advised me of back payments which were due to me and that my pension had been increased. She further said that because I had not responded to the correspondence allegedly forwarded to me, my file had now been transferred to Head Office in Canberra. Apparently, according to the message, the Head Office is open from 10 am to 6 pm Canberra time (unusual hours for an Australian Government Department to work). I was to call Head Office on (02) 9099 1773 and quote my application number 080456. (Funny thats the same number everyone else has !!!) This is certainly a scam. I cant be bothered calling the number albeit that I would love to offer them some kind advice, the first word of which would be "Get".

Just had a call from this number with the recorded Centrelink bullsh*t. My husband rang them back, and the Indian guy that answered asked for my husbands MasterCard details, my husband said while he had him on the phone could he order a large vindaloo, rice and papadums, they really are stupid Indians who need to get a proper job and stop scamming poor elderly Australians.

Yes I got this call, a recorded message saying my pension would be cut as I hadn't answered any of the mail sent to me. I guessed it was a scam right off but when I rang the number back (have caller ID) someone answered but just kept quiet on the end of the line. Centrelink normally send you info via MYGOV

Voicemail message left twice saying to call Centrelink. Left a number to call back. As we have no dealings with Centrelink I thought I should ring and let them know there had been a mistake. Indian man answered the phone, a very bad line and hard to understand. He said he was with Centrelink and what number had the voicemail message been left on. When I replied he asked if my house was a light colour with a garage in front with stairs. At this stage I realised this wasn't Centrelink and ended the call. This is a strange scam and it has concerned me.

Same as above, I called this number from my mobile and a Indian man answered saying Centrelink, when I asked him if he is Centrelink as Centrelink usually uses 13 number he hung up. These numbers can be traced, and the government should do something about these people scamming the elderly!

Yep same as all above except my poor 12 year old answered while I was not home and recorded all the info. When she gave me the info the number looked strange for a centrelink office. Called the number and got a Man that answered that was way too polite to be a Centrelink worker and I didn't go on hold or have to make 15 choices from the menu so knew I was a scam straight away LOL so hung up
