I simply dont answer the phone if it is an unknown number and I'm not expecting an unknown call. Simple as that really. If it is an important call they will leave a message. Save yourself the stress people. 99% or calls are scammers.

same got the call but it just hang up with the end voice saying "Good bye"... Reading from others' comments, it is one of the scammers. My advice to you is to not say your name, I think the scammer is trying to be "smart" by ringing our mobile phone but not saying anything because I think they try to get our name - how? I usually answer my phone with saying "John speaking", if I were correct, the scammer will record the call and when we answer our call with usual way of "John speaking" then the scammer is able to get our name easily - so please be careful when answering a call, the best way is just say "Hello" if there is a legitimate call, the caller will introduce themselves first. I learned my mistake - our politeness is now being taken granted by the petty criminal.

Got a call on my mobile from this number reading it was coming from Wagga Wagga. I do not answer stray calls anymore so let it ring out. They didn't leave a message so I checked the number to find all of these reports. Scammers!!

Caller: (02) 6917 1707 - probably a scammer

Received a call from them today - didn't pick up coz I don't know anyone who lives in Wagga Wagga (that's the location that showed up on caller ID). Was just curious and found this thread. They didn't leave any voice message. Also, I have been getting calls whole day today... from multiple anonymous numbers. Didn't pickup any of them. Think my number is getting popular amongst the scammers. Phew!
