Just been receiving calls from this number (twice today)

Missed the phone call and called back, automated message saying it was ATO, believable as the number says its from Canberra. Shat myself a little.

Google searched the number and got me here to this page where thankfully its just a scam!

Male voice stating he was from ATO and threatening arrest for unpaid taxes. Scam.

Got a call from this number earlier today. Didn't answer on time and then looked the number from net and found it was a scam. I've had once before the same call and funny thing is they don't know your name. Prerecorded message at a time.

Same for me - automated message saying i owed tax and that I was being threatened with arrest just hung up.. it showed as a canberra number on my phone so be aware

However , I’m not a dumbass....
rang the real ato 13#### number , they are aware .. but obviously can’t do a thing..
I have a question though , since an iPhone needs callers added as a contact , before they can be blocked.. has anyone real tech savvy , checked if anyone from this number , is added as a fb friend? In the add my contacts thing? There’s gotta be a way... I’d like to meet them to show my kneecapping skills , as my block list in growing by the day.

Received calls yesterday & today Said they were from ATO & that I owed money & if I did not press 1 now I would be charged extra penalties I thought it was a scam as I had seen about it on tv I think so hung up & checked here

Just received the call from same number. Its a scam from ATO's Genuine Number https://firb.gov.au/about/contacts/ . How did they even manage that and why has ATO not taken any action yet.

automated voice suggesting i have violated tax laws and I will be arrested, not too smart have been retired 5 years, steer clear, obvious hoax

Received phone call yesterday on way home. I hanged up as soon as they said press1

This seems to be a real ATO number that scammers are spoofing, when I called back I got an Australian lady on the phone.

I just tried calling the number back for hell of it, and it went to a recorded messaging saying 'The ATO is aware of recent increase of scam phone calls threating arrest, warrants and death threats, please call 1800 xxx xxx to report this scam, otherwise hold the line for next available call' and I just hung up

I just got a call from this number - too bad I work for an accountants and know that the ATO doesn't arrest people!

When did the ATO call on a Saturday afternoon??? Scammer central. The most interesting thing is that number appears to be a genuine ATO number even though the call is a scam. Certainly very crafty and criminal.
