I just received a call from this number with threaten arrest

Caller: TAX SCAM

They are still using the same number!!!!!!!!!

Started with a call, with an automated message that advised I was in tax violation. Because I owed money for the first time in however many years this FY and did my tax approx 1 month ago, I thought there may have been a mix up or something so pressed 1. As soon as I spoke to the man on the other end, it was obvious that it was a scam so I questioned him and he hung up. I looked up the number & came across this thread. I have now notified my work to send a communication out to my colleagues. I could see that others may get caught by this if they are not diligent!

Did not answer as didn't recognise the number and looked too perfect. Then looked it up and thought I would register another complaint.

Note: The scary thing about this particular number is that it is a genuine ATO number for corporate planning (see link below), so if you call back that number you should get the genuine ATO office, luckily they will know that you don't have tax fraud case opened against you.

100% scam! i knew it and just hung up. Good we have this website can report, so people, please look up the caller number before you do anything follow their instructions.

just got a scary robot voice call saying something about income tax and that i was going to be arrested ... I am in a trust and my taxes get lodged by the family accountant so cannot be.... I overpay tax if anything...

Male voice purporting to be from ATO and that I had income tax violation reported via an informant program, and if I responded by pressing '1' to contact someone from the ATO I would be penalised and/or arrested,

I received a call today from (02) 6216 1111 on my mobile. I didn't answer because I don't know anyone in Canberra. No message was left. Looked up the number and found this thread.

Got a missed call from this number... I didn’t answer and googled the number...found out this thread of comments... Thanks for the heads up... really thought its a legit call, I was about to return the call...

How come ATO not doing anything? Why ?

Like above recipients, robotic voice purporting to be ATO, tax violations in my name, press ‘1’ to clear this up immediately, or arrest warrant will be issued.

I received an automated call from this number threatening arrest if I didn't provide details. The scary thing was it came through 12 minutes after I'd had a legitimate call from the ATO. I hope there isn't an insider there helping the scammers.
