I received the call (it came up on my phone as coming from Canberra) but I didn't answer it as I don't know anyone in Canberra, then Googled the number and found this thread. They'd left a voicemail - a robotic male voice, purporting to be from the tax office. I've blocked the number so hopefully won't hear from them again. I'll report it to the tax office. I agree: the feds should have taken care of this by now.

I just received a call for this number on my mobile and had it as a missed call but the machine left a message. I totally agree that its a spam call and was about to report to the ATO then I saw your message that it has been already - thank you for doing this and save me time been put on hold to report this incident.

I also received a phone call from this number claiming to be the ATO and informing that I owe money and this is my last chance to pay it etc. Went through to the 'helpdesk' who hung up when they picked up on my doubtful tone of voice. This is a very scary scam that I feel many people will fall for :( Why is something not being done? Why aren't people being warned about this?

Just got a missed call from this number & first looked it up and found this thread. I don't answer calls that I don't recognise or return calls to numbers that don't leave messages. Spread the word, this is a scam!!!

I was called on 6 November 2018. These people are continuing with their ATO Tax scam - same thing a recorded voice threatens to have you arrested if you don't press 1 to connect with them.

Purporting to be ATO - I told them to @%*# Off.

Received a call (02) 6216 1111 today. I don't pick up the phone, and leave a voice message about ATO issue. I checked myGov message box, no any emails from ATO. I assume this no. is a scam.

Got a call from this unknown number. Didn't pick up, checked this site. Yeah it's one of those scams again.

Caller: Called had automated call from (02) 6216 1111 and then ladies talking about arrest warrant

Said they were officers and gave me arrest warrant and asked to give me 4500 AUD for solving the issue and for just holding my arrest warrant i needed to pay 2500 AUD. When i said i will talk in person (for an appointment), she dropped a call.

Just received the call today and they left a voice message threatening my arrest. Pretending to be ATO. I've already received this call around a month ago so I know it is definetely a SCAM I reported them to the ATO. If you receive this scam call you should report them to the ATO too just in case

My teenage son was very worried when he received a call from (02) 6216 1111 today and he quickly passed his phone to me.
Same as the others, supposedly from the fraud investigation department of the ATO by an Indian bloke named “Alex Taylor”. I laughed and told him he was a scammer several times and his only response was “how can you say that??” He sounded deeply offended and was lost for words.
I told him he has been smoking too much crack and he promptly ended the call.

Got a call today from this number. My phone actually showed up a big, red STOP-like sign to signal it was probably scam, but I had actually just lodged an amendment to my tax return no less than an hour ago, so I answered, but wary that it could be an scam (ATO usually send messages through MyGov AFAIK). No answer came back, and the call instantly ended. I then searched online and found this thread as the first result on google.

I received 4 calls from this number (02) 6216 1111 to my mobile on Friday. I didn't answer the calls and no message was left each time. Rang the number back and the message says you have called the ATO. I looked up the number and found all the other comments.

I just received a call from this number and didn't answer. Then looked up here and found this thread

Rang me twice yesterday , I listened to half the message and then hung up. Pretending to be ATO and that I owed money. It rang back a few hours later but I didn't answer it. Have now blocked this number.
