I received a Call from number (02) 6216 1111 person claming that he is calling from ATO. It's a scam.

person has a strong Asian accent claiming to be from the Australian Taxation Office. they wanted to know if I had a lawyer to represent me in court for tax evasion. I told them to f off and put it in writing if that's the case and closed the phone. That number is infact the ATO but scammers are going through their switchboard and playing with it. If ATO did want to contact you it would be a private number.

Why not entertain these punks and prank them it then set's them off to upset mode and stuff up future calls because they can't keep a straight face.

I got miss call from (02) 6216 1111 a month ago,i called back they said it is tax office,and no issue under my name(lucky i didn't give my tax file number) .but today I got call from same number so I trusted it is Tax office .They told police going to arrest me within a hour because I made fraud for tax office 2009 to 2014,but i know i didn't do any things but I got very upset they way other end talks.after 45 minutes conversation I drive the car police station while hold them in line and hand over to police,after police took the phone the line got cut.so please do not transfer money to any one,What ever it is police always help us.

i received a phone call as well. The caller did not sound professional enough to claim he was ringing from the ATO office and advised i had a lawsuit and have my lawyer ready to fight for me as i had done a tax evasion. I hanged up after 42 seconds of phone conversation. DO NOT ENTERTAIN these phone calls as i reckon they are just LOW LIFE people who have nothing better to do in their life than cause hassles I rang the ATO who said they wouldn't normally ring people and even if they did it would come up as a private number.

Hopefully someone can find these scums who are ringing people and leave them in a cage with a hungry LION.

Its a scam. They are getting smarter. Obviously they are stealing data from the call centers overseas and using the real phone number of govt offices to scam people.

I have received several calls, purporting to be the ATO. The number shown on my phone was firstly, 1300 121 816, then (02) 6216 1111. BOTH CALLS ARE SCAM!!! I have never spoken to anyone during these calls, they have all been recorded on my message bank. They have all been exactly the same message, exactly the same voice. 'He', 'it' , says he is from the ATO, and that the Police will be calling on me. I am going to be arrested and will go to court. 'It' tells me to ring a number which he then gives, and adds that if I can't do that, to get my solicitor to ring that number.
DO NOT respond in any way to these scam calls.

Received call from (02) 6216 1111 . This is ATO overseas inquiries number and looks like the people doing scam had hacked the number. Person told he's from tax office then telling me that i have criminal law suite against me from ATO. When i asked him to confirm my home address he wasn't able to confirm. On inquiring from ATO found there was no call out from them to me.
