I just answer and put the phone down and carry on with what I was doing...they soon hang up.

This company repeatedly contacts our home 4 - 6 times a day. As there is presently no measure to record the scale, frequency and disruption, however it would be recommended that Australian Government to introduce a safeguard to protect the interest of it's people , economy by restricting call centres from making unsolicited calls to households, and businesses alike so as not to impact on societal and economic activity; loss of productivity through disruption etc.

This practice is rife, and effects many.

Hassle me at odd times of day or night wanting to know my phone/internet service provider.
Caller claimed his name was "Alan Barker". When I asked the name of the company he represents he kept talking over the top of me asking which company I was asking about. I repeated I want to know which company was calling me !
This Alan barker would NOT respond politely, he is obviously an impolite pushy & agressive sales droid and nothing more. Making a complaint with ACMA.

Note: I have received over 18 calls from this number of last 10 weeks or so !

These plonkers have been calling us 5 or 6 times a day. They're aggressive, rude and it's an obvious scam. Tonight our lovely caller only got the wind up after he realised I wasn't who he thought I was. I'm on there arse...

Surely there must be a way to block a unwanted international number from even entering Australian phone line

Have had this number harassing me for months. Today I gave my dad the phone. He spent half an hour on the phone to them asking them to repeat themselves and what deal they could give him that is better then what we already have. They tried to give us a deal costing more then double what we are paying. Lucky he picked up at the end of the conversation they were trying to take over the phone plan and he spent another 10 minutes making it obvious he was not changing plans. We got a call back number to a company http://www.sleektel.com.au/contact.php so if anyone is looking, this is who they are!

Have had quite a few calls from these twerps over the past month or so, perhaps five or six? Finally had enough of them today, old mate got very rude with me and was incredibly hard to understand. He ended up hanging up one me when I started asking questions and trying to make him understand that my number is on the Do Not Call list. Couldn't understand a word he was saying, but sounded like a scam rather than a sales call like I had thought the first few times they'd called.

I rang Telstra to have the number blocked, the gentlemen in the Unwanted Calls Department was kind enough to inform me that this number is already marked as being a nuisance number in their system. Hopefully this puts an end to them calling me.

If you are being hassled, give Telstra a call and get them to block it. Takes all of about 30 seconds.

Thanks for the heads up. I started getting lots of calls from this number, so as I was watching a midday movie, I just answered the calls and put the phone by the TV for several minutes at a time!

Ditto. After trying 'patient' and kindly requesting they take me off their list I tried 'irate'. The guy said he will call me every day. Why would anyone do that? This has to be stopped.

(03) 8644 8152 various rude people with strong Indian accents have been calling on average 10 times a day for the last couple of months I have registered a complaint with ACMA and also registerd DNC they are so relentless and rude and as others said will just hang up when u ask any questions!!!

As many have said, this number is linked to scammers who imply they're from Telstra.
Very persistent scammers who will keep calling for months.
They also tend to get quite rude and unprofessional if you ask too many questions (such as the name of their company or exactly what it is they're offering).
If you ask to be taken off their list they simply hang up, only to call back repeatedly.
Thanks to whoever posted that complaints number, I'll be calling them.

Calling Optus to get this number blocked as its called 5 times in the last hour.

Phoned Telstra yesterday on 1800 805 996, around 7:15 pm and 8:00 pm AEST. Just music.
Spoke today with Christine on that number, around 1:00 pm and she said the offending number would be blocked.
Give it a go.

Have received up to 18 calls a day from these wankers. They have said they are from Homesaver & Telstra. I just have conversations with them now because it annoys them and they end up hanging up. Ask your service provider to put a trace on your landline and after 30 days they will send a legal letter to these scammers. I'm up to call #17 today! Have decided it's not worth getting angry, one guy was actually quite sexually inappropriate to me so they don't care, why should I waste my anger on them. Our service provider is blocking the number for us.

Within half an hour of having our home line connected with Telstra this number has been calling us, every single day 15+ times a day for the past 6 weeks. I registered our number on the "Don't Not Call List" but obviously hasn't worked. I have called Telstra and they have blocked the number from being able to call, so far so good, we haven't had one call. My advise would be to call your phone company and do the same. If your with Telstra this is the number to call 1800 805 996 and it will take you straight to the "Unwelcome Calls" team.
