After a long battle I confirmed it is Telstra calling from that number (or displaying that number when calling from the Philippines!). I have made a complaint about this approach (both this number being displayed & Philippine call/live chat centre completely stuffing up my request; I'm guessing due to their limited English). Hope this helps others - this website was one of the first places I looked at when calling the number to find it disconnected. This number was used by Telstra to inform me that contractors would contact me to arrange suitable time & date for new phone line to be installed. Legitimate as far as I can assume? Maybe Telstra should employ AUSTRALIAN call centre people in AUSTRALIA rather than paying peanuts to Filipinos so Telstra can pay their CEO 5 MILLION dollars a year!!! Was contacted by this number with the female voice stating they are from Telstra apologising for me not being connected to the NBN. I said what are you talking about I've been connected for over a month. The female said that I was still connected to the old copper network and that it would be a month before the work was augumented (whatever that meant). I said my NBN is running quiet fast so when I come off the old copper network will it be faster? She advoided answering this question and apologised for the delay in being on the NBN and said the modem that has been installed must be compatible with the copper network. THIS IS A SCAM!!! This is a legitimate Telstra number (02) 9506 0700, how do I know? Because a female Telstra employee called from an outbound call centre at 7.30 last night and she said she was confirming my husbands details with him for the connection of NBN . But, my husband thought she was a scammer and he abused her after she had asked for his drivers license. We applied for NBN 3 weeks ago and I was concerned that the woman knew too many of our details so I contact my local Telstra shop and made an appoinment with a staff member to tell her my concerns about our data being compromised.
She checked to see if there was a call to our number by Telstra at that ime and date and she confirmed that the call was legitimate and handed us a transcript of the call. She explained that when it is an outbound call centre we will not be able to call the number back because it would call overseas. We questioned why Telstra would think it appropriate to ask for our drivers license over the phone. What the hell are they thinking in this day age? If you don't want to give out information over the phone or you are just not sure, then go into your Telstra shop and talk to someone. That's if you can wait that long to get served.
Added to Auto Reject List! This is a legitimate Telstra number used by one of their outbound call centres (i.e. they call you) which is why the number shows as disconnected if you tried to return the call.
I ordered an upgrade to my Telstra service and a rep called me from that number to confirm the details, so it is definitely NOT a scam.
Some idiot calling i suppose from Telstra going on all the other comments, but haven`t the decency to leave a message, what do you expect from a bunch who can`t speak English properly and are paid in Peanuts, well done Telstra, your call center has F...ed up again. telstra moving team This is Telstra arranging NBN connection. This is Telstra! I was cold called by Telstra from this number to get me to change over to the NBN. Went through the usual "for verification purposes we need you to confirm ...." thing but then he offered the amount of my last bill as (some) proof that he was legit. The NBN has since been installed, so I'm pretty confident it really was Telstra. ;) I have recieved call from this number (02) 9506 0700, i called them via National Relay Servicr for the deaf people who cannot hear, disconnected so i decided call Telstra 132200 and asking them all the questions and i gave them the number i got call from, they said its confirmed thats the Telstra to confirm My Bundle. Now its coming this week.
Its not a SCAM! Just sometimes not very professional. So very real!
Wife had a missed call from (02) 9506 0700 tried to call back could not contact. She had contact with Telstra today so seems as if scammers are somehow getting numbers.Be carefull Missed call from this number but when I tried to call it back I kept getting told this number is not connected I have a missed call from this number and when you return the call it says it is not connected... So how the hell does someone call your mobile from an unconnected number... Pretty rude...!!!! The call which I just allowed to come through from this number (to a private line few know about) was a Filipino voice trying to run a scam about a car accident. This is Telstra, kindly ringing me at 11:30pm on a Saturday night. Was told a local service agent would be stopping by my business to repair a faulty phone connection at 8am on this very same Saturday. Of course nobody turned up, and now they ring when I am in bed sick well and truly after hours. They now won't be through until Monday. Had to bring staff in early on a Saturday as I was told someone had to be there early, on top of which we are losing new customers who haven't been able to get through to us for 4 days. Good work Telstra, you have absolutely no business taking on any new government contracts/endeavours. It is Telstra. Bit of a cheek calling me when 1 we've advised Telstra that any contact is to be via email first SMS second, 2 we've currently got two complaints happening both to do with the NBN and to to top it all off, I get an SMS telling me that my NBN is now complete after I hung up on the number in question. The message says if there are any service problems to call a 1800 number or visit crowdsupport.telstra.com.au. What a joke. Anyone considering switching to NBN, go to another provider. Avoid Telstra and it's overseas call centres like the plague. There was an earlier comment about someone using the National relay service. I can tell you these overseas call centres have no idea how to deal with hearing impaired clients. Got a call from a male caller from (02) 9506 0700 to say from Telstra and wanted me to confirm my home address for emergencies. Told him that the Telstra system would know if my address had changed as I would have disconnected my phone. Don't give personal info out to anyone cold calling.
