This is a scam. I do not even have a Telstra account. I made up fake details when asked to verify my account. I dragged the whole call out to about 15 minutes because I was driving my car and had time on my hands. I was told that I had outstanding accounts and could pay them over the phone. I pretended to be surprised that Telstra hadn't simply cut off my phone. I was sweet as pie all along. When it came time to give my CC details I simply said I can't do that while I'm driving but would pay my next bill on time in full and then hung up on them.
GOOD ADVICE: If any bank, phone company, or utility calls you and asks you to confirm your ID please do not. Instead, apologise politely and call back using the advertised phone number for that company. I've done this on several occasions when unusual transaction have triggered a call from Visa or Amex and both companies fully understand and have policies in place to permit this. Do not feel bad or worry what they might think. Always err on the side of caution.

Had a call after another Telstra call so think they were genuine but when she wanted my drivers licence number and medicare number as well as other identification to send me a satchel to return a modem I said that they had our account number and address and why would they want any more ID? I am not happy about giving out more ID

Its a scam, they are fishing for account information or some sort of identity stealing. Don't tell them anything. Ring Telstra direct on their advertised contact number if you need to. This is not how Telstra operates, they will send a letter in the mail. Once again - don't tell them anything!

I've received a few calls from this number. Immediately after the last one, there was an SMS from Telstra advising they were wanting to check that our details are correct on our account.

Was the Telstra moving team. They were definitely legit. She didn't ask for any of my details (apart from confirming my name), and then talked about issues I had sent them in an email. I got $200 off my moving fee, so it was definitely worth answering (in my case at least)

Most definitely a scam. A long winded explanation about verifying people authorised to access my account details. I told the woman I don't give out personal information over the phone and she suggested calling Telstra directly on their usual line... unless I wanted the "direct line" on 1800 928 214/">1800 928 214. I later got a message, "Hi from Telstra, we are calling to check that we have the correct details on your Telstra account. Please call 1800 928 214 Mon-Fri 9:00am ??? [sic] 7:00pm AEDT". This phone number doesn't appear to show up anywhere when googled (except this page regard 0294... ha!)

Just had a call from this number and said he was from Telstra and just wanted to verify some details of my account I immediately suspected a scam but went along, when he asked for my name and birth date I gave him a bodgie one to which he replied that's not what I've got on my details so I said what have you got on your details and he said I haven't got them in front of me I then said well how do you know they're wrong and he said I can't talk about your details over the phone, I said well either can I gave him a mouthful of abuse and hung up, he tried to call back which I think was probably to abuse me back but I didn't answer, PS. be fore he rang he sent a text saying to expect a call from Telstra soon to confirm some details of your account. SCAM

It is a legitimate Telstra number. I spoke with a call centre person earlier in the day and they asked if they could call back with regards to my bill which they said looked high and that I could get better service for lower cost. Great service!

Just called me today - left no message. Tried to call back after reading elsewhere that this is a Telstra service provider. They had no idea who the account holder was for the phone I was ringing from - sounds very dodgy. If this is supposed to be a legitimate Telstra service provider, then they are crap at their jobs or have access to crap information and Telstra should ditch them.

They call leave a message to call Telstra credit management on a 1800 number, you ring them back, and afetr being transfered all over the place for 20 mins they finally say, we dont know why you were called, your account isnt due till ...... later in the month. The person calling and the ones I spoke to were all of indian descent. Well thats what you get when companies outsource jobs overseas.
