Jude from Telstra rang but could not give me any details about himself, his Telstra ID or any of my details. When I asked what number he'd called from he could not tell me but later and earlier left 1800 870 456 as the number

It is a SCAM! They are so clever that they send you a txt pretending to be telstra and when you call the 1800 870 456 the phone is disconnected. What set my alarm bells was when they said I had to tell them my last name. They also said that I had 4 people on my account. When I asked who they were they wouldn't tell me because of "privacy reasons" I phoned Telstra direct and they said that they have having lots of calls about these numbers.

Yeh same I'm on the phone to Telstra, on hold actually it's been over an hour, and I get a call.
Googled the number while on hold and came to this page.

f*ck Telstra and their stupid call center staff in Manila and whatever other third world sh*t hole.

I received an SMS from Telstra advising they would call shortly to verify my account details, and this is the number they called me on but left 1800 928 214 as return number

Received multiple calls but no messages left. Number is now blocked.

I too thought this number was suspicious, especially as they had contacted me and then proceeded to request my personal details for security purposes immediately. I ended the call then contacted Telstra on their 132200 number and found that it was a legit Telstra number in their technicians department. Can never be too cautious.....

Ring on home phone, then hang up without leaving a message. I think it is a SCAM>>>just wondering though, how do they get my number and some of my details...I wonder if they are passed on to the scammers by people trying to make some extra money???

I have decided to block any numbers that are unknown and dont have the manners to leave a message, if you ring them and get diverted to another number you are wasting your time and your money, business for someone.

Husband, who isnt even account holder got a nonsensical call from sweet girl, Indian accent, saying she was checking on a report from another customer claiming they had received '4 Telstra mails' with our details on it, as far as we could understand it, wanting to confirm our ID etc. Challenged her, she gave us her name & a Telstra ID, & I said if it was Telstra they could email me instead, as they already had my details. Rang Telstra direct myself, they certainly had no record on file for this call & TELSTRA THEMSELVES SAID IT IS A SCAM. I can only assume the comments on these forums endorsing the number as genuine are from the scammers themselves.
