(08) 6263 6363 - Probable SCAM!! - Confirmed directly by iinet.
I repeatedly receive calls from this number, but they never leave a message. I noticed in other comments that some people said it was a legitimate iiNet number - and that they'd checked with iinet themselves, while others said they'd also checked and been told it was not one of iiNet's legitimate numbers.
We do have an account with Westnet (a subsidiary of iinet) so I phoned their support number 1300 786 068 and spoke to someone in a call centre with a foreign accent. I gave them the number (08) 6263 6363 and asked if this was one of their legitimate numbers. He said "this is our/iinet's complaints number". I explained that I kept receiving calls from it but that no messages were ever left and I hadn't registered any complaints.
I think he may have misunderstood my original query because there was some subsequent confused conversing with him followed by him repeating the number back to me to check if he'd gotten it correct. Then he checked the number in their system again and said it wasn't one of their numbers.
He then went on clarify that Westnet/iinet will never make an unsolicited call where any of my financial or account details would be requested and to report any further calls I receive from that number please.
In summary, I think those in this forum who believe they've checked directly with iinet about the legitimacy of this number (in the affirmative) may have experienced basic language-translation confusion where the call centre person misunderstands the caller, thinking s/he is asking if the (legitimate) number they've just called is the complaints number whereas the caller really just wants to ask if (08) 6263 6363 is a legitimate number. This would explain why two people call the exact same (legitimate) iinet support number only to be told the complete opposite to each other.
I'd suggest to iinet that they move their support centres back to Australia (instead of just redirecting calls made to their Australian numbers), or otherwise employ people with better English comprehension / English as a primary language.

Caller: iinet I'm assuming
It was the same for me as well I had sent a support email and instead I get this call at 7 am in the morning waking me up! No message was left but I'm assuming from what You have said that it was iinet. I agree if I wanted to speak with them on the phone I would've rang! The email explains everything they just need to respond! I don't want to discuss the issue over the phone!

Very obviously NOT a legitimate iiNet phone number, and you can't accuse iiNet of poor service on the basis of the activities of scammers!

Cold calling in 2024 is pathetic. Its not 1981. iinet have great service but harassing people whist they are at work via a cold call is pretty poor.

Suspect it was a result from an enquiry I had made to sign up with iiNet
Because of the attitude and approach of the sales person who spoke rapidly. repeating himself and tho I have no experience at all with drugs, I would not have been surprised by his speech, speed of talking and lack of empathy that he was under the influence of a pretty powerful additive.
Nett effect was that I declined to go with iiNet, though I had previously been with iiNet (originally signing when it was being run out of his garage by the original developer -- being involved in some general discussion groups. (Getting old and can no longer remember his name, but know it was a great setup and he made squillions in selling it) (and Internode (to which my IT qualified son signed me up because he reckoned it provided better options) for some 20 years without any problems; very satisfied customer until the Internode/iiNet absorption.
Nett result was that I spoke with and ultimately signed with Aussie Broadband. Only been connected for less than a week but so far would acknowledge that Aussie is living up to its positive reputation.
Just re-read this; a bit convoluted but hope that brighter minds than mine will make sense of it.

Just received a call from this number, they hung up as soon as I answered, but I am thinking that even though the number is iinet, as per the previous comments, I get the feeling the number may have been "hijacked" as I am customer of innet & never had an issue before.

I'm with iInet and my internet keeps dropping out. I have to call them every few weeks to get them to fix it, last night I made the usual call to a Filipino worker in Manilla with broken English to report dropouts. Today I got a useless follow up call and now I'm getting silent calls from this number. This company has become garbage since outsourcing their customer care.

I am an Iinet customer. This number called me daily for over a month. When I finally answered they tried to sign me up to upgrading my internet and offer me mobile phone plans. I asked to be contacted after 5 while I was not at work, they called me back 2 hours later at 3pm. Nuisance calls like this and the constant pestering has made me reconsider staying with Iinet

These people are supposed to be iinet but when I answer I either get a call tone because it's being redirected or it hangs up at this point I'm blocking because they are just time wasters.
