Text msg from Paypal, with code...have a Paypal account but not used in over 4 years...checked your site ! Blocked number !

Received a supposed PayPal text with a code. I believe it’s a scam.
I haven’t ordered or purchased anything

I just received verification codes. I was trying to log into PayPal at the time from my tablet but my phone was in another room charging so I has to keep going to check the code. I ended up with 2 from PayPal and 2 from this number. It was actually one of the codes from this number that allowed me in. Perhaps I was taking too long to input the number each time. Either way, no links, just verification codes. I changed my password anyway. Just to play it safe. And the only activity has been the transaction I was making at the time.

This is not a scam, sometimes i buy something through pay pal and pay in four payments and they text me to let me know the due date is coming up and it deducts from my account, its all legit ...

This is definitely a legitimate PayPal number, the one that sends verification codes to let you log into your account, at least in Australia. I had previously blocked it thinking it was a scam, then spent frustrating weeks NOT getting verification codes they'd sent me and unable to log into my account.
It can also come up as 62485872975.
Could it be faked and used by a scammer? Probably. But if you're having trouble getting verification from legitimate PayPal when you're trying to pay for something, I suggest you unblock it and consider each sms purporting to be from PayPal on its merits.

Claiming from PayPal, sends a security code & not to share. I hadn’t even purchased anything. Don’t click on the number. They are sneaky the link is the number they claim to be a security code.

PayPal scam: “You have a new money request. Pay at: (link). Ashley Bell sent a request for $50.00 AUD”. Blocked.

4 times sent me code, 2 minutes apart. Went onto PayPal app and they had changed my settings to remove faceid and to enter my password

Scam! I'm sick of this number. They're trying a number of ways to hack my bank details. One is using PayPal as an excuse and another is using City Link tolls. Catch these pricks!

On five occasions at least I have received security numbers from this number when logging into my PayPal account, and everything was above board.

Perhaps if you receive an 'unsolicited' message and believe it's a scam, then the number may be spoofed and should be ignored ?

Message with "10 minute time limit" arrived at 2:16am when i was asleep, so definitely not using PayPal!
None of the three genuine PayPal payments i have made this week triggered a text like this. Considering the number of reports from people who don't have PayPal accounts yet are receiving these, it seems dodgy. Read other comments and decide for yourself.
