I got a message also stating I had a request for payment to a name I didn’t recognise.
I logged into my PayPal account. The amount was waiting for me to approve. I reported it to PayPal

17/06/24: SCAM!!!!! Texted fake security code, I of course assumed someone tried getting in but I already have 2 factor authentication set up another way, so they couldn’t even if they tried. Called the number back, Optus voice advised the number is disconnected. Blocked.

5 SMSs received in one minute - each stating "Paypal: 864162 is your security code. Don't share your code." Each had a different code number. It must be a scam. I logged onto my Paypal account and changed my password,

Text saying payment didn't go through. Amounts were not correct and I always pay in advance. No current payment due. Definitely scam text, no link. Plus my method of contact is email not sms.

Received text message saying PayPal payment did not go through. I haven't used PP for 6 months. And there was a link to tell me to load the PayPal App attached.

Given the variety of different requests on this number I would definitely list it as a scam. If you need to do anything such as download an app or check for bills owing in your account, do it safely yourself via your app store or via your own login page.

100% real. sent me a verification code when I hadn't asked for one so I was sceptical but then I went to log in to my PayPal and it sent me an actual verification code through the same number

Got a message with a PayPal security code. I deactivated my PayPal years ago for this reason.

Not from PayPal logged into PayPal no messages. 0485 872 975 is a fraud scam/Phishing

Don't fall for this. It's a SCAM.

I got a call from a scammer who managed to get this number to send me a security code and told me he needed the number to update my system.

I've had messages from this number - from Paypal - every time I've had a refund into my paypal account, so it's definitely a legitimate number that Paypal use

Legit for me - get these all the time buying meat in woolworths click and collect, and is the notification of the refund of the weight/price difference or the actual picked product. Sounds like the number has been spoofed for other people though.
