Not Legit, you should not receive numbers from this scam phone number and think they are legit. Most people receiving them don’t have PayPal accounts so they are just hoping someone responds, derr.

Definitely a scam they must have gotten in to my Paypal account and used that to try and get all my card details out of me..
They almost had me transfer 1000$ to my account so they could transfer it!
They somehow had commbank info too and sent me codes which I NEVER gave as the text from Netbank said DONT tell anyone this.. So mad they are the scum of the earth

Easy to check if legit, just log onto your paypal acct. Instructed that additional details were required on my acct. Logged onto paypal and there was indeed a notification to update some of my details. I believe this is a legit paypal notification, however I wouldn't ever supply details via txt.

Knew it was a scam as the payment had already gone through ahead of time BLOCKED the number

This is almost same number beginning 61leaving 0 out while using PayPal had previously blocked 0485 872 975

Received a series of text from this number with PAYPAL authentication numbers. I am not using paypal or purchasing anything through it. Check the number and it IS a Paypal number, but I have been told it is also SPOOFED by scammers trying to hack
SO MUCH FOR 2 FACTOR AUTHENTICATION .. Paypal should be on to this ! Very poor.

Received a call from this number 0485 872 975 claiming it was PayPal and an unauthorised transaction of $1800.00 had been blocked, and they had picked it up as suspicious.. Was convincingl at first and they sent a security code via sms asking to use it to access my account. Didn’t feel legit, so I ended the call. Proceeded to call aPayPal in Sydney to verify suspicious activity and there was no sign of my account being compromised. I have changed the password and also notified my bank because they also had my personal details and card number!!!!! Be careful guys!

Two calls - one from this number. Says is Paypal but both calls came from New Zealand. They DID send me a security code but I was already in my Paypal accout doing something else anyway. No notifications arrived there which they said there was. Allegedly someone in the US wants to spend $700 of my money on medical supplies. Told them to cancel it even though I did not request it and to block them. NO personal info was given by me and I pretended to have a Paypal account under another name. No personal details were requested. Indian language was spoken so might or might not be a scam but I treated it as scam. The number WAS 0485. I also have two factor authentication but I use email not sms/text for that!

I confirmed this number is the Paypal Australian mobile number from which verification codes are sent. Phoned paypal, talked to security, confirmed. Feel free to repeat and sort this one out.

Other issues up to 6 hours trying to make and complete a simple online transaction with various issues. Complex modern world.

PayPal asking me to login as a periodic payment was due but it wasnt any amount i knew so I deleted.

I received a messgae from this number and it was a two factor message from Paypal with a security code for my login as I was purchasing something, it's genuine from Paypal not a scam

I think this is a legit number being used in scams.

A very polite man rang from a different number ((03) 7076 1272 ) and said he was from PayPal and that there was suspicious activity on my account - I almost never use PayPal and don’t pay it a lot of attention, so that seemed possible. He was very careful to give me a lot of information- my name, my phone number (that he was calling on) and my email address. And he kept asking if I knew anyone in LA or the US and giving great detail about the amounts of money and the attempted fraudulent activity. And then he said that in order to cancel the account, he needed to send me something to allow them to cancel. That seemed odd, but ok. As part of that apparent cancellation, I received an sms from this number, which was a password reset code. And he asked me to read him the 6 digit number, which you should obviously NEVER DO.

So they have my name phone number and email address- I guess from some data breach somewhere - and then are hoping to fool me into allowing them to reset the password to my PayPal account.

So the text message from PayPal seems legit, but you should still ignore it if you didn’t ask for it to be sent and you should definitely not give that info to someone else!

Answered the call and they pretended to be Paypal. Telling me I had purchased an Iphone. I told him to read out the contact details attached to the account to which he gave me an email that was not mine. Block this called. It is a scam.

I received a call originally from 0468 879 646 from a guy claiming to be from "Paypal" they went through their spiel of how they're monitoring my account & someone has tried to make a payment to "jane smith" over in America. They sent me a "one-time code" which came from this number and asked for me to read that number out loud to them, when I declined the caller got very angry at me. I hung up, called the real PayPal and was told: PayPal email you about your account, if they call it is rare and it is only when you have called them and specifically requested a callback and they call from a local NEBRASKAN number (not Australian). So have blocked number & reported it.
