Got a sms from this number - a money request for $199.99AUD supposedly from PayPal - from "kazal" Also got 2 emails with the same request rom a sending address 'service @ paypal.com.au' (probably spoofed). The sms had a pay address at 'https://py.pl/xxxxx' whereas the emails had a blue 'Pay Now' button containing a long string designed to log you in to PayPal and do a transfer!! Have reported to PayPal but haven't heard back from them yet.

Scam message "PayPal: You have a new money request. Pay at: https://py.pl/HYVi7. Ripon sent a request for $299.99 AUD."

I received a text message from 0485 872 975 as follows: "Paypal: you have a new money request. Pay at: https://py.pl/1L2uAD.silo sent a request for $245.99 AUD".
A few seconds later I received an email from servic @ paypal.com.au saying that "silo sent you a money request. Money request details: $245.99AUD. Transaction ID: U-65U60353S5216711S. Transaction date 3 August 2024." Then a choice of (buttons) 'Pay now' or 'Decline' - so I declined as I did not recognise "silo". When I declined I was automatically put through to the PayPal account login window, so I logged in and I cancelled the request for $245.99. Very odd and I can't think of any legit organisation to which I owe that amount.

Scammer, url dead giveaway. can't even get their spelling right in the request message.

I had a text from this number requesting a payment for $300AUD from a Leonel Von with a link. When I logged into my PayPal account it showed a payment request for Bitcoin. I didn't respond so it got cancelled.

You will receive a text from this spam number under the disguise of PayPal, the text will say “PayPal: You have a new money request. Pay at: <link>. Vincenzo Esposito Esposito set a request for $299.99 AUD. Do NOT click any links. If you log in to your official PayPal account, you will see this illegal transaction has tried to take place. Thankfully, in my case the transaction was cancelled (unsure who or how it was cancelled). In any case, I called PayPay on the offical help line and PayPal have told me that my account was safe, and they will investigate further. But PayPal suggested I change my account password in the meantime.

just got a text message saying money was trying to be taken out off my account, poor punctuation

I got a message also stating I had a request for payment to a name I didn’t recognise.
I logged into my PayPal account. The amount was waiting for me to approve. I reported it to PayPal

It's not legit when you didn't ask for the code....

17/06/24: SCAM!!!!! Texted fake security code, I of course assumed someone tried getting in but I already have 2 factor authentication set up another way, so they couldn’t even if they tried. Called the number back, Optus voice advised the number is disconnected. Blocked.

5 SMSs received in one minute - each stating "Paypal: 864162 is your security code. Don't share your code." Each had a different code number. It must be a scam. I logged onto my Paypal account and changed my password,

Text saying payment didn't go through. Amounts were not correct and I always pay in advance. No current payment due. Definitely scam text, no link. Plus my method of contact is email not sms.

Received text message saying PayPal payment did not go through. I haven't used PP for 6 months. And there was a link to tell me to load the PayPal App attached.

Given the variety of different requests on this number I would definitely list it as a scam. If you need to do anything such as download an app or check for bills owing in your account, do it safely yourself via your app store or via your own login page.
