Have received three text messages stating that I have transferred funds within the past two days. I don't have a PayPal account, but I do know that when entering a phone number into the official system you are to verify it - therefore you can't enter a wrong number. This is a scam.

I just called PAYPAL Australia - it clearly is a genuine SMS number. If you go into my Settings - Get Security Key - it will clearly show that number. I think PAYPAL AUSTRALIA themselves are a bit confused.

I ordered a photo book online from Big W yesterday and need to pay via paypal. I don't have the paypal account so I click the button on the bottom of Big W linked web site to create a new paypal account in order to finish the transaction. I received email from paypal asking to reconfirm email and mobile number, a 6 -digit code was sent via sms to my mobile. One minute later I got a sms message from 0458 729 725 telling me to save this number on my phone and ask me to txt back "Bal" to this number to check account balance. It seems highly suspicious so I google this number and found out it's a scam number if you replied it and hacker can hack into your phone. So I delete the sms straight away. But I don't know how come once I create a paypal account, the hacker can know my mobile number and send me that message. Just doubt if Big W online photo ordering web site security is safe to use or not.

Thought was spam. Emailed paypal who confirmed legit. Reason I thought dodgy was because I had not confirmed my phone number on my paypal acc so my funds were not automatically claimed, I had to do it manually. the sender haf sent it using my phone number (off a gumtrer ad). All confirmed, fixed and money in my account. 100% legit. Paypal will confirn if u contact them

received a text stating I needed to claim my paypal payment..https:/py.pl/(random numbers). Didnt seem like paypals site at all. Phoned the number and Optus states the number is disconnected. Scam written all over it

It was the exact amount for an item I had only just won on Ebay!!!
The site I won it from may well be legit but with company names including Blossom-Beauty (not the the beauty products) and "bananaphonez", this also sounds a bit suspect? I'm just going to wait until I get some messages direct from Ebay.

Very creepy they knew the amount. I ignored the message and checked my payment had gone through on PayPal, which it had. I will be keeping a close eye on my account from now

For me, this was a confirmation txt from PayPal notifying me that a friend has made a payment into my account.

I am not a pay pal customer so I know for sure that this is A SCAMMER - you must be in another world of no spam!

Block the number. Do not reply.

Looks like the guy that is using that number is adding notes here saying its is paypal so he can hack your phone
