Well, i was on the PayPal app, and decided to link my phone. A few seconds later I get a text from the number with the security code I needed to enter. I called the number and it said that this number is disconnected + some random automated numbers I heard.

I changed my profile by adding my mobile number. I received what appears to be a genuine email fromPayPal. The email nominated O0458 729 725/">0458 729 725 under the heading. "send a text" and gave 2 examples of how to use SMS when using the number. I received an SMS advising me that my phone number was linked to00458 729 725/">0458 729 725 and for me to add the number to my contact list. I rang the number and received a strange voice message. I rang Paypal and the operator could not assist me. I was advised it was not a PayPal number. I do not know what to make of it. The PayPal email contains the number appears to be genuine

I called Paypal and they confirmed that the number is associated with them. But I'm still a bit wary.

Just a sms from this number confirming my payment of $95.00 to "Andrea Brown" My Paypal account was hacked many years ago and hence I do not have one any more, but must admit it made me nervous I had to check all my accounts!

I got a text message saying that someone has sent money via PayPal with a link to view the details. I can also reply with 'bal' to get a PayPal balance. It sounds like a scam.

Total scam attaches its mobile number to your PayPal so it gets notified of you using it. Try's to send you this bogus info message

I too received scam message similar to what I have just read on this page.
Originally I ignored message as was away. [not to be bothered with PayPal, at that time, was not going to 'shop' to use the service] However, just clearing out old text messages and came across it again and would like to share with you, before I delete it. I have also taken a few photos. In case of a fraud followup thing happening.. who knows? see below>> Most of you probably have had a similar message to mine. Just downloaded the PayPal app and there is a section to "boost security" by linking your phn to your account. I thought they would send a code to then be entered in the app but instead they ask you to text:

CONFIRM your phone with PayPal. Message and data rates may apply.

surely if everyone concerned about this dodgy number they could contact telcos which should be able to do some thing about it im only reading this as have freind asking bout it was hoping it was a booty call

I never entered any code but this person some how got into my PayPal account and started changing my information. I must have signed in at the same time because nothing has been stolen from my account yet. I changed my password and i hope that will be enough because i don't want to have to cancel my account. So frustrating. Hope this person gets locked up for a long time.

Yes similar experience - it asked for reply with code via phone or paypal site but have never used paypal ever so ignored but google to check number - so beware?????????

This number is the Paypal Mobile Caller ID. It means the text messages are coming from Paypal.

yes I got the same sms asking for a code I sent code through only cos I was setting up my paypal account but turned out this tom foster 34 wanted me to go to western union to transfere money to him for shipping for a item he was buying from me on gum tree...
I rang paypal and they told me its a scam dnt reply iv emaild paypal all of his emails and hopefully it will stop

This is a scam. I got a message on my mobile to enter a code number on PayPal website. I've never even use PayPal. Beware!!!!

They sent me 3 text messages, even though I asked them to stop.. They wanted me to enter a code on a Paypal website.
I informed them that I was registered with the "Do not call register" but they sent me another text whenever I responded to their one.

Blank text message appeared on my iphone messages app when I sent a text to another number. Time stamp 7.58am. Turned phone off and then on again message time stamp from this number changed to 9.22am which is when I restarted phone. Tried calling number and I get notification that it is disconnected.

This mobile phone number wants to access someone credit by linking to their account. Be careful. It.s about time someone in the law enforcement catch this person who owned this number miraging under Microsoft account or PIN
