It is Optus - I had some issues with nbn and a lady I messaged through the optus app called me to update me with the situation. Not a scam

Caller: Optus Technical department

I had been using the online chat troubleshooting my router. I was told that it was being escalated and I’d receive a call. This number called me, didn’t ask for ANY of my details, knew everything about what was spoken about in the chat and a new router was ordered. The next day I received a text from optus with my order confirmation for my new router. If you’re expecting a call from optus technical, then definitely answer the call.

They called me from this number a couple of times after I had called them to sort an issue on my bill. They were calling because I didn't do their survey.

I think it's dodgy. They called my 66 year old mother's pre-paid mobile repeatedly while we were having dinner. If it's tech support, why are they calling my Mum's prepaid mobile? She hadn't logged a request for support either. If it is a legitimate number, I think someone is cloning it. When I answered, I could hardly hear the caller so I suspect they were overseas, not in Sydney.

Caller: Optus

A man from the Phillipines called to claim he's from Optus regarding my 5G modem upgrade. He confirmed my name and address but he was asking me for my DOB. I asked him why he needed that information if he has my details on the system and blurted out my name and address. The standard ID check is asking the customer for name, address, dob and contact details. I thought it was suspicious and hung up.

Caller: Scam call

Some Indian lady saying she is my Optus NBN account manager. Told me all my details except asking me to confirm my birth year. She then asked me to send a message to her on the My Optus app and said if I have any problems in the future, do not contact Optus (because of long waiting time or something) and just message her directly. In the end she asked me if I have any other concerns and I said I never had any concerns to begin with.

This number has been calling me twice a day ever since, even on Sunday and public holiday.

Caller: Some lady called 'Minu' from India

Myself and my mum keep getting phone calls from someone called ‘Minu’ based in India asking whether our ‘Fetch box still works’ She either calls me on my mobile or calls my mum at her main line home phone.

I explained that we returned our Fetch box to Optus ages ago and that we no longer have it. Then she asked me for my pin number and wanted to know the serial number of the Fetch box. I immediately hung up.

The phone number came through as a Sydney number: (02) 8049 6150. I don't believe for a minute that it's legit. It's definitely a scam

Seems dodgy - said they were optus asking for personal details. I told them they phoned me so should have my details. I have no issue so no reason to call me.
