Caller: Scammers Super scary, these Scammers called my mobile number & had my unlisted home phone number. Kept calling trying to confirm who I was - had my initials only but not my first name which rang alarm bells straight away. Said by Citicard Card had been hacked - problem is don't have one, so 100% for sure this is a Scam - but watch out it's a highly organised one.

Received missed calls from this number claiming to be a security concern on my credit-card, on both my home number and my mobile within a minute of each other. I called back and got hung up on. I called again and got someone who explained it was a security threat on my credit-card (I have another bank but Citibank do their credit-cards), and that a merchant had been hacked so everyone who regularly dealt with them was being contacted. I didn't give my card number and explained that I wasn't prepared to do so because the number didn't match any on my statement, so I'd call back on a number I had as I had no proof of who I was speaking to. They recommended that action. When I called the number on my bank's statement, the phone index recording was identical, and when I spoke to the customer service person she said a merchant had been hacked and I had recently shopped with them. She stated my personal details, not me, and didn't ask me to confirm anything inappropriate. Card cancelled, new card issued (I had the digital one instantly). So I do believe it was Citibank; that when I called my bank on their number it connected through Citibank, and that's why it was a different number that I didn't recognise. But the onus is on Citibank to give the caller some identifying proof that they are who they say they are - not the other way around.

Caller: Indian female Phishing. Claimed to be verifying an employee's details as part of a reference check. Told me call being recorded. I answered some generic questions, then they became a little suspicious as the questions became more detailed. I asked them to email their request but was told me 'one more question'. They then proceeded to try and ask several, so I told them I will only answer emailed questions. Never heard from them again.

Scam.... how it works.... They pretend to hang up, you hang up and dial your bank number, a team member of the scamers then pretends to be you bank and asks for your details to identify you... BAM! ..a few hours later they start spending your money... Check out YouTube to see them being caught at it...

Claimed to be from Bank of Queensland. Knew my full name! Thought it was legit, they told me to cancel my cards. I was silent for a bit, couldn't quite understand her, when she asked if I could hear her, I told her I couldn't only the children in the background, she hung up!

Caller: Claimed to be Coles MasterCard fraud Scam! When I said I would ring back direct she said to call number on back of card. Obviously spoofed the number as when I called direct there was no recording of me being called. Fraud department said this is increasing as people often think the caller is genuine if they say please call the number on the back of the card.

Caller: Citibank Credit Card Security Verified: REAL . I missed a call from this number. There was an automated message left saying it was from Citibank Card Security and asked me to call back on either of 2 other numbers. . I got a general number to call off Citibank's website, and rang that instead. . They put me through to Citibank's Credit Card security team. They CONFIRMED that they'd called me. A merchant notified them of a data breach. I'd purchased from the merchant back in May 2019 (It's now Nov 2021) and Citibank wanted to cancel the card and send me a new one.

Caller: Bank security fraud team You need to call your card issuer directly. Not the number that called you. It is a call centre number that is one way calls only.

Caller: Coles MasterCard Security Team LEGITAMITE. Received a call stating the from Coles Mastercard Security Team. They said they had info that my card details had been compromised. The accent was not very clear. They wanted my permission to block my card and transfer the details to a new card. I was not convinced and would not agree nor give her any info. She was polite and said to call the number on the back of my card if I felt uncertain about the call. We ended the call. I called the number on the back of my card and they confirmed their security team had called and left a note on my file. Apparently my card details were picked up from an illegal terminal scanner and they want to cancel my card and issue a new one. This is what I did and it is all good now. No issues. They did a great job and I am very grateful that I have this service to assist me before being shocked by illegal transactions. All happy here :) Its legit. Call your card issuer direct if you are unsure. Dont just post a comment here saying scam without following thru further.
