Yep - me too - trying to buy my boat on Gumtree saying he worked as a rig mechanic on a oil rig offshore NZ and could only contact me via email with name of Ben Pitt - wanted my paypal details to deposit funds and would then organize someone to pick up the boat from Townsville and take to Darwin once funds cleared ...knew it was too good to be true. Glad he used this phone number to make initial contact.

Wanted Paypal address to make payment, & his agent would collect vehicle for delivery to Darwin as he was on a rig. When said don't have PayPal wanted bank account no, said get yr agent to bring cash & ... silence!

Scam SMS from pitt.ben624 @ gmail.com when I advertised a caravan on Gumtree today.

Sure looks like a Scammer . He or she was trying to buy jewellery on Gumtree .Sent sms from this number under name of Girl Soft and asked to email to softs222 @ gmail.com then contacted by email from girlsoft51 @ yahoo.com .signed off as Gina Fils .

I have been called by 0428 465 117 there is no answer if you call back sounds like a VODAPHONE number message wants to know condition and final price and requests email only reply defiantly a stupid scammer

okay so like everyone else i have had this today ... started with text from this number but asked me to email ... offered $100 over my asking price then told me someone would come from nsw to melbourne to get it as this person is overseas on a combat mission ... wanted my name and paypal email ... umm yeah no not giving that out ... name on this one was gina fils

I put an ad on gumtree for a formal dress and it had only been up for an hr and got a txt from this number wanting to buy straight away luckily my son picked up on it when they mentioned western union when they wanted me to pay $500 up front

Just got message re car ad on gumtree from this number. Instant ALARM bells as he ( Paul Anderson ) wanted me to reply to an email address. BE AWARE THESE SCUMBAGS ARE OUT THERE.

This phone number 0428 465 117 is used all the time with different peoples name attached to it Melissa, Chris, John etc. The idiot always replies to cars etc posted on Gumtree for Sale.
The very moment the add goes online...WHAM...my phone goes beserk with TXT messages. Oh well part of the internet world.
Just hope people dont get sucked into the scams.
DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MESSAGES saying text them etc. Dont give them your PayPal or Bank Details. Mainly GMAIL and HOTMAIL accounts are used and these are SCAMS.

Said name was Aaron. Wanted to by my car but work commitments sending someone to look. Asked for photos and reason for selling (was clearly stated the reason and photos on gumtree). Was a bit iffy about it at first. Once we got emailed was half obvious to tell was a scammer !

Still going in late January! Just had 'Janet Maxwell' asking us to send money to Western Union for the courier cost of the item 'she' was 'buying' from us.
