Received a call on my mobile last night at 1.05am. I am not an optus customer nor have I ever been one. I have been on hold with customer service for over 10min so far to ask why they would call at that time of night

I've had 3 calls in last 2 weeks from this number wanting me to confirm that I want to transfer my phone account to Optus - No request was ever made by me. Information obtained from them is the callers name is Priyanka and her supervisors name is Dinesh Hirani. Informed them that I was to contact the TIO about their scam calls.

Caller: Optus Don't stress people - this is definitely a legitimate number - I work for a Telco and they call me on this number all the time to confirm when they have completed my orders.

It's the Year 2022. Month is August. This phone number has 11 pages of comments. The site says 90% Spam Score with 11 complaints THIS YEAR!!. So where are they? I am looking in vain for recent comments!!!! I looked through all 11 pages and there are only a couple from 2020. All the rest are from 2016 to 2019 !!!
This number called my mobile and I didn't answer as usual. Looked up this Reverse site and get all this 11 pages of comments. I have recently put in a complaint about an Optus shop staff member so I was interested to see that this number has been tagged as OPtus Support. However, after reading through dozens of the comments I am quite sure that my experience is the same as other people's whereupon scammers overseas have developed a link to the real Optus and once they get activity through the Optus site they then have your details and try and pass themselves off as real Optus staff for their own nefarious purposes.
As some others have said, I believe that all or most, of the entries here that say this number is legitimate Optus Support are comments made by the scammers themselves or bastardo Optus staff who are getting kickbacks from their mates overseas for supplying customer information.
That's what I reckon and I'm sticking to it!

Caller: (02) 8049 6150 Thanks to the comments on this page, I spent almost 2 hours going back and forth with Optus about whether or not this was a scam number. Originally they said they don't recognise the number as theirs and I need to secure my acoc*nt and not answer calls from this number. Then after MUCH time wasted, it turned out the idiots don't even know their own numbers and this literally was someone from their back office calling. If Optus tells you this isn't their number, just ask them about contact notes left on your account and if there are notes about contact attempts at the same times you got calls from this number. The guy that callled me from this number and spoke to me for 30 minutes left notes on my customer account about our conversation and that's how we FINALLY figured out that this was in fact, Optus. They still couldn't confirm the number was correct, but the conversation I had definitely was, and I got a new phone in the mail 24 hours later. It's definitely Optus, unless someone cloned this number to call you. When in doubt, don't tell them anything and call Optus back yourself, to their main line.

Someone with an Indian accent called claiming that they are from Optus. At that time I was trying to reconnect with Optus a number of times. I thought I was talking with an Optus officer. The male person asked for my name, surname and date of birth including my mobile number. He did not help me as he said he will transfer me to the cancellation abn service. Yet no one answered and the music was a little similar.
I called Optus on the right number and gave them this number (02) 8049 6150 to check. I was told, this is not an Optus phone number.

Received call from (02) 8049 6150, which doesn't ring a bell with me (excuse the pun). When I ring that number there is no answer. Could Optus please post a comment here to clarify. I am expecting Optus to contact me over an issue dragging for nearly 10 days..! Thanks

Caller: Optus Support This number was from Optus Support who called me back to track down the 5G Modem which i sent back after the 1 month free trial. The modem itself costs $560 if you do not send it back on time. Make sure they give you a QR code for the 5G Modem.
So yeh - it's a legit number from my experience.
