Automated voice message from this number saying as well "There is a complaint filed on your name and your personal information is under investigation. If you do not respond within 8 hours you may face legal actions." Received 1 message at 10:06am and then another at 3:40pm with this following number +614661261886079. I am glad I have been warned about this scam and I will share with friends to be aware as well. Thank you

Had several calls and text messages from this number claiming to be ATO.
Have informed fed police and am going on to scamwatch.gov.au to log it as well.

I think it's pretty clear from all the posts on this site that this is an aggressive scam!
I have had two calls so far today and I'm getting quite annoyed with them!
My recommendation is not to call back as it only encourages them. Just report it to ScamWatch.

I received a call on (02) 6188 6079 as well, with the same verbage as above, Australian male accent.
Of course I didn't call back but reported it straight away to Scam Watch. I just now received their response thanking me for the info.

My sister told me about this, so we called them and I made out like I had received a voicemail.. I asked why the ATO were after me.. that same guy

Thought it must be a scam

When I called back, a man said I need to transfer money to them, otherwise I'll be faced with court. I suddenly realised it's a trap, because I'm new migrate and I have an empty record. Then I said, I was at the court right now and wanted to meet him. Then he hung up on me.

Just received call from this number saying I was under investigation with ATO..I'm sorry I pay my taxes with an accountant handling all my business & have for many years!These people need to stop their scare tactics...they keep calling but obviously not getting the result they want so they've added a voice mail to make it all sound real when it's a big scam don't fool me you scam scum..do not answer it's a big hoax & shame on the people doing it scaring innocent people...the ATO do not threaten people with a phone call!!!!

This number is still going apparently, as I received a call from it taday. As it happens I was driving and did not answer, but waited till I got home and looked up this web page.. Many thanks to James for posting the warning about this number.

I have had the same call today. When I questioned his authenticity he angrily told me I would believe him when the Police came to drag me out and hung up...

Same deal as many others, but when I phoned ATO to confirm if it was a scam, they wouldn't comment, even though i had the callers phone number. Shouldn't they know this immediately and say its a scam?

They called me today twice already. They said the same as the previous comments posted here.

Rang my phone today , I didn't answer, they left messages as previously mentioned, as if the ATO would leave such a message by text. They should be prosecuted.

I have had 3 calls from this number as well and they left a voice message when I didn't answer the last call. All calls were automated voice calls. I never returned the call.

I have had two calls from this number this morning I knew it was a scam. I called back from my work landline and got an Indian accent and just hung up. So I put them on my auto reject list on my mobile . That will stuff them!!!
