Got a call a minute ago from someone who spoke so fast I didn't even catch anything but Taxation Office. In the middle of cooking dinner so I asked for a letter with the details. He said he 'wasn't authorised' send me a letter with the details. I work for a government agency, they will always follow anything up with a letter. Got suspicious so I told him he could send me a letter and hung up. Google is a fantastic thing, searched with '7000 ATO' and so much info came up.

yes i have received same call today about $7000. so what can we do? tommorow i'll call parliament house, canberra about this to confirm. give your opinion guys.....

I received the same calls. And I was advised to pay About A$200 to any of the five addresses around the area I live, collect a voucher then call (02) 6100 3155 Richard Dwight for a refund of $3265.00 in cheque to be delivered. Can you investigate this please.

Evèn same happened with me,i lost my $3000.i informed the police .my bad luck.plz dont trust on these stupid calls.i m very depressed and tensed.

same msg, saying my reward was 10000, i knew it was a scam cuz it sounded too good to be true. (02) 6100 3584 is the number they asked me to call.

My Wife received a call today offering $7000 as Regular Tax Payer Rebate or something ATO Canberra, and asked her to call (02) 6176 1035. Indian voice.
My number is listed in DoNotCall list but still I get prank calls, I hate this so much.

we received a call on Friday 23rd Dec 2011 , one lady calling that we are eligible for a $7000 grant from ATO and given the telephone no to call (02) 6100 4364 for further information. i was a bit doubtful when she was giving information about $7000 from ATO on telephone , we have never received any call like this from ATO. After putting the telephone receiver , i search on google for this telephone number and i was surprised that this telephone number was a big fraud.

Recievd a similar from Jenifer Smith (calling from ATO Canberra Headoffice) asked me to call (02) 6100 4364. This is a FRAUD.

Can't beleive this is still going.. I had this call today... I knew straight away what was this about... can't we do something about this???

I did the same as all of you the number was (02) 6100 4364 they promised me a $7000.00 dollars grant I was sus about it and googled grant from the ato and found all this information already on the website thanks for confirming this

My wife had a similar call today, saying that since we are paying our bill on time, we are eligible for $4,200. This was a new rule by Julia Gillard. The number given was (02) 6100 3011. Please be careful. Thankyou for setting up this website as i googled the number as the first thought of action.

same thing number was (02) 6100 3158 tracy jones was her name but sounded asian very hard to understand.gave me the name of a ray martin accounts office. unreal!!!

Yes I just got the same call too and the caller name was Peter Polard. He said to contact on (02) 6100 4079 for getting $7000. And its a Saturday......no one works at the ATO on a saturday,,,,,,,,,,,,

Its sad and unfortunate, but it sounds like indians are involved in this scam....but I can assure u all, thats not the kind of values we reflect...I have been working here as an electrical engineer and a project manager and was once a student, did all the hard but never pranked or cheated anyone...trust me folks, bad pays everywhere, indians or whoever, i hope no one will make it a race issue, AGAIN !:) lets get these bastards nailed!

My wife got a call from the 'ATO'. as she had been picked out of a demographic survey, and had won a once-off tax bonus of AUD 4000, to be claimed by calling (02) 6100 3579. Sounds familiar.

Same story here guys..This dude called Chris Bryan called, giving me the same spin. The number he gaive me was (02) 6100 4079 . someone should really stop these lying bastards.

My wife just got call from "Lisa White" saying we're getting $4,200 rebate from the ATO and to call back on (02) 6100 3011 straight away. Even gave a tax application number. Thanks for all the comments on this post. Hope something is done soon.

I have the got the same call just few min before. He was saying the same thing that I have won 7000 AUD as a grant and he gave me the same number to contact i.e.(02) 6100 1822. I do not know what is this?

I received a phone call just few minutes back from ATO canberra and that was from a Chinese accent. And it told me that I have won a Tax rebate of 4100 and they asked me to call (02) 6100 3011 and Reference number R0396.
I decided to check on internet and found this so straightaway understood it to be scam.
