got the same call... pak accent--stupid guys!!

I received the same phone call I called my accountant as I already done my tax return and he said one of his client had same call and they try to get money from us, next time say that you will report them to police and they won't call you again...

I RECEIVED A CALL FROM AN INDIAN GUY CALLED CHRIS BRIAN FROM CANBERRA ATO. THE TIME WAS 7.30PM. HE SAID I WOULD GET $7000 GRANT BECAUSE I AM A GOOD CITIZEN & DON'T HAVE CRIMINAL RECORD. HE GAVE ME AN APPLICATION FILE OR REFERENCE NO. CALL THE ABOVE NUMBER IMMEDIATELY. I THOUGHT IT ALL ABIT SUS. I SHOULD HAVE HUNG UP THE PHONE ASAP. DON'T LET THESE BASARDS FOOL YOU WITH ALL THEIR BULLsh*t.

they are still at it...Giving people with an indian accent a bad name..mine was mathew gibbson..offered to switch me to the police if I wished...very cheeky..Thanks whoever started yhis site

i got the same call.and i am an aussie born indian....please dont believe them...lucky i rang my husband immediately..it was from christina,and often jordon....and these f.... indian people destroying the reputation of other indians

Yes, we got the call as well. Actually had my full name. Told me to verify and call back (02) 6100 1822 and quote application number A840. Had scam written all over it so I hung up and did not get any further. Registered it with Scam Watch under suspicion category "too good to be true"

When i called the number given, they greeted as if they are ATO.

I got a call from a heavily Indian accent dude, offerring me 7000 from the Australian Goverment... he said to callthis number: (02) 6100 1822.

I knew it was false - as if our govermnent would give away such huge amounts without a proper letter or something.

I received the same call but I had known from the way the want things to be done quickly that something is wrong! the government will not initiate such a quick movement of transaction..all crap..spam! india

yes and a lady by the name of Christina phoned to. Unfortuanately i was stupid enough to believe them. And no not because of the money, which if an extra bonus, but because iam a sucker for children that suffer!! so yes i was caught out, after paying the money to western union i still cant get hold of them, phone just keeps on ringing and what pi@@s me off the most is that whoever gets the money clearly doesnt deserve it! May you burn in hell....

I just got this call. The balls on these fu*king people. These dodgy indians at call centres think we are so stupid to just send $250 out to Unicef!! And since when does the ATO give money back to honest tax payers!! Seriously we are not stupid you a**holes.!!!!

My Wife received a call and told her that they are offering $7000 and they are from ATO.Yeah again it was an Indian Voice on the other side.I don't understand what they wanna achieve by doing this?

I recd call from this number today saying i paid taxes on time and will get $7000 if i call to the number (02) 6100 1822. I came to know its fraud. The people speaking were Indians.I am Indian too but really shame for these people who are making scam calls. Reaaly sh*t.

This grant would be available only once. when i asked them to make sure that they are really calling from the Australian taxation department.He said I can call on the number (02) 6100 1822 and check that they are the original ATO. He said I would receive my cheque for $7000 if I made a $250 payment to UNICEF. He said I was to deposit my $250 payment to UNICEF via Western Union to a person which he would tell me the details of. Only then was I to receive the $7000. By then I'd had enough and I called them 'scamming pricks'. I CALLED ATO and asked them and they said there is nothing grant system like that..wtf?

I received a call from this number today. The prick on the other line said his name was 'Peter Pollard' (alarm bell number one as Indians aren't called that) and that I'd received a $7000 grant because I paid my taxes on time and I had no criminal record. He said I was to call back on the number (02) 6100 1822 and when I did (just to f*ck with their puny little minds) a 'Daniel Watson' (alarm bell number two as no Indian is called that, either) answered. He said I would receive my cheque for $7000 if I made a $250 payment to UNICEF. He said I was to deposit my $250 payment to UNICEF via Western Union to a person called Chand Bala Kaura, in Delhi, India. Only then was I to receive the $7000. By then I'd had enough and I called them 'scamming Indian pricks'. I called them back on this number a further two times for my own pleasure wherein I abused in various languages and yelled at them gleefully.
