Why has this not been stopped!! Some poor little old lady will do this & get fleeced. Have sent an email to ACA to hope that they highlight this!!

My Wife received a call and told her that they are offering $7000 and they are from ATO. It was clearly an Indian voice on the other side.

I recieved similar call today. Same Indian accent somewhere kids crying in the background. I just told him to F*** off .

I had exactly the same problem today (22.08.2011). Heavy Indian accent. These guys must think we are stupid but I guess enough poor sods will be sucked in to make it worth their while.

Wooh...Today i got the same call...and i get happy to get these calls bcz i screw these guys on phone..first guy gave me a no to call to get instruction and i make him terrified by telling that i work in ATO, he got nervous and immediately i called the number he gave me , i listened the whole procedure and after he told me that i have to send some money to them first as donation , then i told him that I am calling from ATO. Shock of his life..got nervous and told me am a liar and he wrapped a phone immediately..enjoyed the session. Beware guys you do not get anything free, not even Govt will give you that. enjoy.

Even i got a call too, they said that i'm reliable to receive the amount of $7000 , he called me on the EKKA day and told me to deposit the money ,he forced me a lot and kept on calling me the whole day, i went to the cash converter as well to pay but lucky it was closed, i rang up the number , those guys answered and said me that ,he is the accountant and can track me some nearer place so that i can go and deposit , i told him idiot u don't know what is EKKA day !A public holiday, then he told me to be on hold and told me to do it tomorrow at any cost b4 10 am, i told him okie fine i'll transfer the money on some NITESH KUMAR GUPTA. the next day i went to western union filled the form , but mi heart was saying not to do it, lucky i was not having any id proof with me except my student id card, so i couldn't process my transaction, i came home to get mi passport, i called these guys up, it was ringing but some one was disconnecting it , i called 20 times and it was ringing and then some one was disconnecting ,i immediately logged onto the internet and checked on google and found this webpage, i read all the reviews of it , and i was very happy , thats my very hard earned money.and again i got a call from them , from an internet number asking weather i did it or no, i said them to get lost , he forced me a lot , but i denied it, he was so rude , mentally harassing me

Guy called with Thick Indian accent.(I thought it was APPU form Simpson’s) the moment he told me that i won money.... my reply was F*** OFF. i few minutes called the number back and Indian dude answered with "welcome to Australian Tax office".
So stupid i, when you call ATO you have to talk to Machine for about 30 minutes before you get human.

I got the same number call from them today, same story, said won $7000 from ATO with reference number as well. I hope some authorised organsation will find these cheating gang.

...exactly the same story today...i have reported this online - SCAMWATCH. but am surprized this is still continuing. Who will ctach these fakers? I am expecting another call tonight and intend to give this 'indian sounding' scammer a resounding scolding. How dare he spoil the hardly-earned reputation of all INDIANS. Im Indian and am ashamed of these individuals. Dont blame us all people!!!!!

Getting same call from some guy, name like OZ but voice like Indian (sorry to say) ...

somebody called my home number from this number telling that we win $10000. my mother told them that she can't speak english. This guy asked which language she is good at and transferred call to the guy who can speak the language. It is a fraud i guess.

Chris Bryan Just calling me too saying he was from the ATO in Canberra saying I was eligible for a $7000 rebate. Quizzed him on his details and got bs excuses not the same dept caouldn't give me even my tax file number, no security checks called bullsh1t on him. Someone shut these crooks down.

I also received the same call. I said I would call the number given (02) 6100 1822 but rather than call the number I traced it on the internet to this site. I knew it was a scam as soon as I heard the accent and the same spiel being used by the others in the room!! Just ask yourself one question.....since when did an Australian Government Department give you money for nothing??
Never...so don't give your money away to scams.

and then he starting abusing his own language. laughing as if we are a bunch of helpless people at their mercy. some action should be done against them. they are breaking the law freely and playing with law abiding australians

Yeah we got one too. My wife and i Recieved a call from (02) 6100 4071. He said his name was Michael Adams and we have 7000.00 because we are good citizen my wife placed the call on speaker phone and asked where could we find details about the 7000.00 grant; being that it was "legit", and "goverment approved". he said its on the ato website. we checked, then asked which section of the website to go to, he then ended the call, we called back. The guy said "look if you want the money you just have to listen to me" we laughed it off and ended the call..TBC,

***We all should call back in and say we've put the money in to the account but the police have intervened and are now tracking the account for fraudulent activity***

Same deal as everyone else, didn't call the 02 number because I smelt a rather large Delih sewer rat, bastards. This scam needs to be advertised on the news to stop unfortunate kind hearted souls from being sucked in. next stop is an email to channel 10.
