This is a legitimate call from the ATO, even thought it shows as No Caller Id and the voicemail was left by a person with an Indian accent. You can verify the number on the ATO website - and call them back.This is NOT an scam.

I don't know the number of the caller, but 1300 466 859 was the number they gave me to call them back, claiming to be the ATO. I got on the ATO portal, rang the number there and they confirmed ... it's legit. It's regarding debt collections, so make sure you call back OR, like I did, confirm the number for yourself and then call back. They'll transfer you to whatever department called you in the first place.

Usually they call if you have forgotten to pay your BAS statement. ATO will send a letter first to the register postal address then call you if payment still not made.
Call the number on the ATO website above under the "Early Debt Intervention" section.
If in doubt call you accountant to check first (which is what I did).

Definitely a SCAM. Whatever the imposters on here say about it being real the ATO would never cold call you without sending written letters first. In fact, they would not call pretty much at all - unless to return your call. I was called about my Mothers tax debt ! She doesnt have one and why would they call me about her account - privacy issues etc etc Dont give these people any oxygen

Caller: Crystal Santiago at the ATO Early Intervention Dept (allegedly)

Felt scammy and so I googled the number (which was legit and published on the ATO website) and then called the ATO scam line 1800 008 540) to check whether this is a scam going about and the guy on the end of the scam line phone was so useless that I'm still none the wiser.

This Tax agent uses the number provided to agents. For the ATO to collect the voice print of a registered tax agent on an individuals account would be stupid. Different verification steps are used dependent on who you are. Be smart, use the link...

That call suggesting you'll be arrested IS a scam. Calls asking you to ring 1300 466 859 are legitimate calls from the ATO. The number is on their website.

Got a phone call private number outside of business hours, operator only asked postal address but nothing else, been told there was a outstanding debt to ATO. Was not sure about it but confirmed with ATO the next day, apparently there was a unpaid debt, so this is NOT a Scam.

I had a call from someone claiming to be from the ATO. I requested a call back number & a Reference number. She advised me the office hours to call back and advise to call back by COB Friday. I then contact the ATO and was advised the call was legit and proceeded to response to the inquiry.

when i call back ask for Jason Carry and get the answer said no have this man,Then I ring137226 ATO to find it out that is real scam things many people has this same problem, lucky Jason Carry is very dump and stupid enough try to cheat us but he lacks
of common sense about ATO how it works inside, Just back luck for these scam people, one day all should be in jail for rest of their life.

This is a scam. They leave a message saying to call 1300 466 859. This is a legitimate ATO number. However, I called ATO and they had no record of calling me. The caller I could barely understand on message so I was suspected was some sort of scam. Guess their motivation is to make them sound legitimate.
