OK it is a company called Xoom Telecom - I did a web search, found there number (a 1300 number) called them with the guise of wanting to learn more, asked if it is the same company as (08) 7200 4634 and she said yes it is their out going call number - perfect. I then explained how abusive their caller was, they were very apologetic etc??? Not really sure what is going on but they certainly changed their tune once they were not so anonymous

I have had a number of these numbers call frequently over the last few months. The number of calls seems to be growing over time. This is not possible for all businesses but the solution I have used is to divert the landline to mobile and add each of these numbers to the auto reject/block list on the phone.

The worst part of it is that given the large number of calls it makes you think that every unknown number will be another one of these callers and you become instantly defensive when anyone calls.

These people called my client who is a business owner. Harassed him saying there's a new law that all Australian businesses must register their phone plan with their company otherwise their phone lines will be cut. My client gets around 6 calls a day from these people. Looked up the number and found this website. Your reviews were very helpful (my client was really scared it was real) - thanks everyone for posting and helping the community wean out these crooks!

"Kevin" from South Australia. Yelled at me because I couldn't understand him then when I politely asked him not to be rude asked me what I was talking about. I hung up then he rang again 6 times in succession and was yelling at whoever answered. This is disgraceful tactics and whoever employs these clowns should go out of business very quickly.

Telemarketing to extreme harassment levels. Organise to have Telstra block their number on your lines if possible.

You cannot ring the number back as it immediantly hits a message bank with leave message ( please don't it will encourage more calls ). I believe this number is some diversion from overseas as the callers are too abusive.

They call every week at my work. Saying the same thing "reduced line rental" "I'm not selling anything" the guy is so fng rude. I ask to have the number put on the no call list and the POS will ask "why why I am not selling anything" I ask 3 times and he hangs up. Makes me want to throw the fng phone in to a wall every time.

Same as previous posts here, wants the owner of the business as the phone line will be discounted next month, blah, blah, bullsh*t. I like investing new questions to ask every time they call, claim they are in Melbourne but couldn't name which suburb they are in, or perhaps do not understand what a suburb is & hung up. I've used the Owner doesn't work here anymore & popped them on hold while "I took other calls" & filed my nails. It keeps me amused on a slow day.

And then just hang up.

I get at least a dozen of these calls every week, and each time they just ring and hang up after I finish saying hello and the the business name. And I can't just let the phone ring as we do get some calls from out of state numbers to our business. I've saved this particular number as spam, but there are just so many it's frustrating! Why can't business have the same protection as residentials for a do not call register?

Caller: Victoria Surveys

Woman wanted to do a survey about the cost of living in Victoria. When I asked where she got my number, she said they buy names and numbers from databases online. I asked if she could tell me specifically where/how they got my number. She kept talking over me and wouldn’t answer my question, then hung up.

Received call from (08) 7200 4634 wanting to speak to 'the business owner' I told her she had the wrong number and she proceeded to offer me great deals on my phone service, so I hung up.

Surely the Australian Telecom companies can do something about this rude nonsense. Maybe a big bill (If possible) would discourage some of these companies from calling so much.
I am lucky I do not rely on my mobile for incoming business, so my principle is not to answer at all, if I do not recognise the number. If it is important they will leave a message. Funny how they never do.
