SMS received about blocked fraudulent activity that was picked up by the bank . Didn’t reply as requested but called the lost card line straight away who confirmed the SMS was legit and my account was flagged.
They cancelled my card straight away, organized a new one and checked all my other bank accounts.

Asking to confirm activity on my credit card. I was suspicious and phoned Westpac. It was legit and my card had been hacked and used to purchase $2000 worth of stuff from office works. They cancelled the card.

I got this test advising of fraudulent activity and that someone from Westpac would be calling me within the hour. I googled the number and came across this site. Decided to call Westpac - got out through to their fraud division. Was legitimate - a slight difference with the amount being fraudulently charged but all checked out. If in doubt, call your bank.

This was a legitimate text message, but I did make contact with their fraudulent SMS message to 0457 114 629 (0457 11 HOAX) and they called me back straight away. It turned out that my visa card had been hacked and that they had attempted the transactions on a number of occasions so my card has been cancelled and they will send out a new card. Definitely not a scam at all and I am so grateful of their diligence in reporting it

this is genuine. Simply call the bank (on their advertised phone no) and check.

Those saying scam - clearly didn't get the message and didn't call the bank.

This is not a scam!! It is the bank fraud department and they notified me of an unusual transaction and also cancelled my card. They rang me within an hour of receiving the message and confirmed it was not a scam, I also rang my bank who also confirmed it was not a scam message.

I got a message from this number after I made a purchase. I’m pretty sure it is a scam and I didn’t reply back. If you did want to get further information I guess you could call westpac but I thought there was no need.

Received following message this morning:

St George Alert: Block placed on card ending (****) for suspicious transaction at 'J CREW' for $0.00 at 6:07. If Genuine, reply 'Yes'. If Fraud reply 'No'.

Thought it might have been a scam text so googled the number it came from and found this particular site. Rang the fraud dept of bank and they confirmed that the attempted transaction did occur and that our credit card is now blocked. Advised to cut up our credit cards and are now being issued new cards. If in doubt, ring your bank directly to be sure

Got a text today.
St George alert: Block placed on card ending xxxx for suspicious transaction at 'J CREW' for $0.00 at 6:13. If Genuine, reply 'Yes'. If Fraud reply 'No'.
Didn't trust it and called St George on their usual number and it turns out it was legit. Anyhow, it's always better to be safe and not trust texts like this!

Not a scam.
I too was suspicious at first but did reply. I then got a call from (02) 9845 4000 and I asked them to confirm a lot of my details back to me before discussing anything. The call was from a Westpac staff with a foreign accent, working for Fraud team. I also saw the suspicious transaction as pending on the card in online banking. The transaction was blocked, card was cancelled and a new card ordered by that caller. They also check your address for the new card to be mailed out.

Received an SMS from this number and it was legit from Westpac. The potential fraud activity on my bank account it referred to is legitimately on my account.

It was St George Bank alerting me to suspicious transaction - I verified this at online banking - a debit transaction from 'BRICPRIC.COM'

I don't know them, have never done business - let alone a transaction at 3.28 am in the morning.

St George in the process of issuing new debit Visa card and crediting my account.

I got a message like everyone else here, telling me that my St George account had been blocked etc due to suspicious activity on my account. The thing is, I don’t HAVE a St George account. I will go into my own bank to see what they say however.
