Thank goodness for this thread!! Received a text from “Theresa Benson” and was told to reply via email. I replied simply saying the furniture was still available as listed on Gumtree and received the email mentioned above and instinctively googled the name and ended up here!

Thank you so much for this feed. I just received exactly the same thing...nearly went through with it then looked up name and found this!!

She wanted to purchase $4000 worth of my furniture. When i asked if she wanted another particular item she kept on insisting yes. Confused me as to how she wanted $4000 worth of furniture without even seeing it
Lucky I researched her name up on google and then read these comments, she asked me 4 times for my bank details... lucky i didn't get back to her

Sounded suss to me (who would buy large furniture under such conditions), so googled her name to check Facebook account perhaps, and this is what I got.

Can she be blocked from Gumtree?

Almost immediately after listing a chair for sale on Gumtree I got a response from Gumtree Theresa Benson"Im interested, whats your email" . Sent through the email (not a good idea!) and then got this.

The wording of the email just didnt seem right and I googled Theresa Benson and found this! Thanks for the earlier posts.

She is a scam tried to make me pay for some courier in CHINA with my credit card through Western Union. I have reported her to my bank and police as I gave her my bank details to put money in as she wanted to buy my dining table.

Becareful she is a SCAM she has even given me a passport photo which must be a stolen one.

Yep she's at it again. I just had Theresa Benson contact me wanting to buy my entire house of furniture pressing me for my bank details and or paypal.

As for the payment..i can only pay via the fastest and secure way to pay online(PayPal) here.

I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after the payment have been made...

You can now send me your PayPal email so i can pay in right away and also include your address in your reply.

Got a text message about a gumtree listing :

“Hi, is your Bike still available for sale? kindly get back to me via my email address(bernardeather @ gmail.com).Email only please”

No way to determine what their number actually is through my iPhone. Also, when they texted me their name came up as Bernard, not as an unknown number. Total scam.

Exactly same happened to me. Same long email. I had a hunch something was not right so googled and found your helpful responses. I emailed back saying ‘shame on you scamnet’. Funny she/he was not so quick to reply.

both sent same story from different emails only david works for "the military camp" and theresa works for "NZOG"
both said they were enquiring through several email but not to reply to the other emails.
Immediately alarm bells rang and I googled the email addresses, both being listed as scammers.
