Actually they do call you sometimes. Its not fake. Technician who comes onsite is not from NBN, they are usually contractors from other companies.

Caller: NBN Co Legitimate call from NBN Co - I was expecting this call (it was related to a broken equipment report). It's not a scam, not sure why so many people think that on this listing. Perhaps the reason they have access to NBN jobs and know about your appointment times is because it's actually NBN calling?

This feels like a scam, recently had my NBN set up so they knew about that, however when they called and asked if I was *blank* they gave a name not even close to mine and an address in a different state, and then asked what my name was. I hung up and they called me back immediately and for a really long time so I ignored it. they then left a voice mail which was dead air, with a little breathing. Really feel like someone calling from "NBN" would have the right info on hand. even if there was an NBN specific call centre, why wouldn't my provider who got me set up be the one to call? especially since this guy is a few days too late

I'm sure it is a scam call from some place claiming to be NBN. I have acquaintances who work at NBN and they're 100% sure NBN doesn't call personal number unless you are advised to wait for them to call due to an issue that would be easier to be solved if you talk to a staff such as the product you ordered has failed, payment didn't go through etc on a totally different number. Anyone claiming this number is real either been scammed or don't know they are or someone from that scam place. Please be careful and be mindful!

100% Scam Call. Very convincing call as they have access to your NBN appointment time, Address, name etc.
Feels genuine until they mentioned the wrong ISP and called me while my NBN technician was already on site.

Caller: NBN There are a lot of conflicting comments. Here are facts: NBN states on their website they may call to confirm and appointment and try troubleshooting.
Also on their website they state they will never call to ask for personal information or to tell you that you will be disconnected, or to offer a rebate for slow speeds or ask to perform a speed test on a website.
The final fact is that people are getting these two statements mixed up and all they are hearing is "NBN will never call a customer.
I can't speak for the possibility of a legitimate number being spoofed and used by scammers, which might explain some people's experience, but I can say that this number does in fact belong to NBN and that they regularly use it to troubleshoot to try and avoid a call out, confirm appointment times, or reschedule appointments.
You're welcome.

Be AWARE!!! These guys knew that I had an NBN technician booked and knew the day and time. Nearly had me fooled until they ask for my IPT number. I checked with the actual technician and he said that NBN never call.

Caller: NBN I was waiting on NBN to install fibre optic cabling and received a phone call from this number saying my issue could be fixed by using my computer. Then he asked if I had Apple or Microsoft. Dodgy. I asked if I could call him back. Yes on the number he used. Can’t get through on that number. Tried several times. NBN head office is Queensland. NBN came that week and took 5 hours to connect cable. Is it possible someone at NBN is sharing people’s information or is someone hacking?

Caller: NBNco Infrastructure NBNco left message on my answering machine to say the problem I reported with their infrastructure on a power pole was going to be investigated today.
We've had a lot of problems with people nicking the old copper wires and damaging actual power wires as well, and making the stobie poles (concrete with steel frames) live... So I reported with the snap send solve app. "pit and equipment - nbn". There were loose wires hanging from the bottom of the power pole.
Finally got a way to report to them (snap send solve app), maybe they will clean up some of the redundant infrastructure.

Caller: NBN You would think the NBN would at least make their own phones work properly, HA! They called at least 5 times this morning but everytime I answered the line was dead as though they had pressed mute at their end. Still haven't been able to hear them and the last time they called I suggested they try some other method of contact.
