The typical delay when you answer then a male with an Indian accent claiming to be from my 'banks security department' when i asked what bank, there was a delay and then the reply was 'commonwealth bank'. when i said i didn't have a commonwealth bank account they changed their reply to 'anz'. Total scam.

I was greeted by silence. Scam centre too busy to allocate a person to scam me.

One day later I get a scam call from the "NBN" [yeah, right] from almost the same number - ending in 4801.

It annoys me that we taxpayers fund ACMA to sort this stuff out yet they appear to do nothing.

On 19/6/2023 1st I got a call from (02) 9069 4800 (similar) to my mobile. Claiming to be commonwealth bank. Hung up - block call.
Got a 2nd call from this number (02) 9069 4804) 20 minutes later. Same story but said they were from Commonwealth Securities (or security department). Hung up. Both Number blocked.
Reported both number to Scamwatch as suggested by ACMA website (for what it is worth).

Left an automated message saying my account would be auto renewed and $99.99 would be debited out of my bank account so enjoy my Amazon Prime services and if I wished to cancel I had to press 1 to speak to their cancellation services - obvious scam

Unknown caller - no message left - possibly scammer - does anyone know how people can be allocated a landline number and use it for scamming without the provider knowing which address it relates to?

Just some idiot acting like a rep from commonwealth bank. You know they are a scammer when there is a 6 or so second delay before they answer.

Rang twice in the last 2 days. Rings for less than a second then hangs up, so my phone lists it as a missed call – presumably they're relying on me to call them back to find out who I missed. Out of curiosity, I did call them back, and got a recorded computerised voice telling me to enter my pin number, and after a pause, telling me this doesn't match the card. Clearly phishing for access to my hard-earned, so I've reported the number to ACMA's Scamwatch.

Caller: I don't know - male caller

SCAMMER BEWARE! Male voice said to my elderly mother that they were ringing from the bank and that her card had been used overseas. My boss at work fell for this months ago - they rang and said his card had been used for accommodation overseas. As he was about to travel overseas he thought what they were saying was true as he'd booked online. They started to make enquiries about his banking details to "protect him" and get his money back (I've heard in some cases they suggest opening a new account but they didn't for my boss). Luckily my boss stopped just before the end and said "If you are the Commonwealth Bank you would know that" and they hung up on him. My Mum said to the caller just now that she didn't understand him and would pass him onto her adult daughter. I took the phone and he immediately hung up on me when I asked a question. DODGY. PLEASE TELL ALL YOUR ELDERLY RELATIVES AND FRIENDS THAT THERE ARE SCAMMERS. THEY ARE SO TERRIBLE THE PRETEXT OF THE SCAM IS TO PRETEND THEY ARE PROTECTING YOU FROM A SCAM. Honestly, what sort of evil people do this. Shame on them.

Told me he was from "Visa/Mastercard security". Knowing it was a scam I immediately queried why he was calling me, then he hung up pretty quickly. Indian accent. General background noises of a call centre scam.

Indian voice call claiming from NBN. After transfer to "senior technician" he attempted to get me to download ANYDESK which according to google "Why would someone ask me to download AnyDesk?
If scammers convince you to download AnyDesk and share your unique access code, they can gain remote control of your Apple, Windows, or Android device. Once they're in, they can search for sensitive information to use to steal your identity or manipulate your screen when you log in to your bank account. I then informed the technician that he was not from NBN and I would not download as it was a scam..... he then became very abusive. DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANYDESK
