Had the same thing happen several times from different numbers. Each time I call back to see who it was, it says the number is not in service. How is this allowed to continue??? Surely the government should do something about this type of thing! These degenerates harass hundreds of thousands of people daily, trying to con them and manipulate people into providing their personal information so they can steal from them! The government CAN stop them, but they could care less! SICK OF IT!!! Sick of not being able to answer my phone out of fear it's another lowlife trying to con me! Ugh!!! DISGUSTING!

Answered the call and it was a lady with an Indian accent with background noise suggesting a call centre. She informed me that there was an issue with my Amazon account, which is curious as I don't have an account with Amazon. She disagreed with this assertion and insisted that I was mistaken, at which point I hung up and blocked the number.

Scam Call. I answered and a man with very broken English asked for Mrs Fletcher - that's not me. Told them I wasn't the person who they asked for. He asked to speak to the homeowner - I asked who he was, he ignored me and asked again for the homeowner so I asked again who he was. He then SHOUTED at me to put him onto the homeowner about a Government solar panel rebate. I told him to delete my number from their database as I hadn't given it to them so he just hung up. It's the fourth time they've called. I block each time but they ring back with a variant of the number.

Very much a scam, Indian caller spoke very fast. pretending to be amazon. Attempted to use 2 factor authentication and nearly worked. Managed to take money out of multiple accounts. All of this happened just days before Christmas.

Indian call centre. Claimed to be from Amazon. Hung up almost immediately when I asked “what could I do for them?”

Rang today, didn't recognise the number and let it ring out.
Seems from the comments recorded here that was the appropriate response.

Nuisance call, as per this site an obvious spammer/scammer. Pity our telecom service didn’t deal with this, they’re pretty good at charging us as customers though.

If you buy a phone, details are required to satisfy the relevant authorities.
These b@#$%&*s seem to get numbers as they need them.
Surely whoever obtained these numbers must be able to be traced and then dealt with through the courts.
Ha Ha, probably get slapped with a wet lettuce leaf.
This country is now a joke and the government could not care less about us.
Hand out a stiff sentence to these pricks who cause undue suffering, especially to older people like me, and it may slow down a little.
The other way to handle these twits, and this would cause telemarketing to die straightaway, is when you answer say hold the line please, put the phone down on the bench, come back to it in a few minutes, they will be gone, then hang the phone up.

I think it was the guy that drove me home in an Uber, or was it the cashier at 7-11? Not sure, in any case, I’m not interested.
