Caller: Scam caller from “Amazon”

Highly sophisticated scam. They rang saying they were from Amazon and they suspected I had been hacked as a iphone had been ordered from my account from a unusual ISP account then sent me a verification code to my phone (I assume they triggered this by trying to log into my account then the real Amazon send verification, then they hack you if you give them the verification code). They were saying I needed to read out the verification code for them to prove it was me. They got frustrated when I said I would go online and check it myself then ring them back.

This number called me and was an AMAZON scam, they tried to tell me my account had been used in Europe and I needed to reset everything via an email they would send. They had my phone and email details. When I said no I would log onto my account separately and not via their email they hung up on me.

Caller: Indian woman in call centre

Same as most of these cases - some woman in an Indian call centre saying a guy called Matthew McDonald or something like that in Germany is trying to make purchases on my Amazon account and she can stop it but needed me to give her the one time password she texted me. Scam, hung up.

Caller: PHISHING SCAM TRYING TO PRETEND TO BE AMAZON TO ACCESS YOUR BANK ACCOUNTS

This guy with an accent rang without varifying who I am at all, saying he was from Amazon. He tried to say an attempt was made to purchase something expensive in my Amazon account. He sent a text to my phone number to try and convince me to give him the passcode to get into my account. Basically he took the steps I would use to change my own password, so he could get in and change it: he tried to con me into giving him the text code number that helps one do that. I hung up. If he had done so, he would have been able to access my credit card details and made any purchases he liked, because he could have changed my account password and email and phone and locked me out. I checked after and Amazon have stated this month this is a scam and that no employee of Amazon calls up about such things ever, also clearly there was no purchase attempt made in the account. These people are systematically trying to scam everyone this month using their access to phone numbers - report the number to the federal police then block it.

They tell you that your account has a pending order and ping your account for SMS confirmation. Ask you to read the number to them and then they can change your password. When I called him on it he launched a tirade of expletives at me

Some Indian guy saying I purchased an item for $800 this morning in Germany (I live in Australia). Kept on convincing me that I have an account, although I don’t. Continued on telling me that I was mistaken as it is in my name.

Amazon scammer claiming your account been hacked. In the background whilst talking to you they are attempting to hack your Amazon, eBay, Google and Bank accounts by sending you OTP codes and pressuring you to read them because “your IP address has been compromised” and they need to fix it for you. Just hang up!

Claims he is from Amazon and Michael Williams from Germany (I may have misheard or he misread the script as it may have been Mark Williams as stated elsewhere here) has purchased things on my Amazon account - if I want the transaction cancelled then provide the one time password that was just sent by text message by Amazon to him. Essentially phishing so that he can log into my Amazon account with my phone number and reset the password with the OTP in the text message - he wasn't happy that I couldn't see the text message that states "Do not share it (the OTP) with anyone".

Just got a scam call from this number pretending to be from Amazon. A male operator with a thick Indian accent said I have placed an order last night for a phone, asked me whether to approve it or to cancel it, then sent me a text for verification code and asked me for that verification code. I ask him to verify to me that he was really from amazon and if he is able to do that then we can continue talking. He got frustrated and said not to call Amazon if I lose money and hung up.

Didn't know the number so didn't answer... the idiot left a 2min voice message saying nothing (obvs by accident) the background noise clearly confirmed it was a call centre, all I heard were Indians speaking 100 miles an hour. Blocked number.

Claimed to be from Amazon, advising someone from a different IP address tried to change password and order a Sony Bravia TV. I said it doesn't bother me, then he said OK I'll go ahead and approve the order.

Bloody scammers.

Caller: Claiming to be from Amazon

Female with Indian accent - Said someone had placed an order last night for a laptop in Germany, 13 times, then asked me whether I have made this order and whether I knew a Matthew, to approve it or to cancel it, then sent me a text for verification code and then tried to push me to verify to change password, but that they weren’t actually changing the password, they were putting a freeze on and then I could change my password. I told her How did I know she wasn’t a scammer, so she transferred me to her ‘manager’. He then pushed the same crap, said I needed to confirm. I kept stalling to see what he’d do. Old mate got quite angry when I said I had no internet and could someone call me back in an hours time, or could I get a number to call back on, and then hung up on me.
