Called to advise the time a technician would visit to fix my landline phone problem. It's scam calls, don't anwser it. Genuine Telstra number. I thought it was a nuisance call when there were two missed calls from this number with no message left. I returned the call, reached Telstra, and was told they didn't have a record of anyone calling me. But I've just answered the third call from this number and it was a Telstra technician responding to a landline/NBN fault I reported yesterday. This is not the first call from this number, which one would think originates in Sydney given the area code.
It is seriously dishonest of Telstra to represent the call originating somewhere in Australia but is clearly coming from an overseas call centre.
I have no problem with someone overseas having and doing their job, my irritation is Telstra's dishonesty.
If the call originate overseas, show it as such.
Moreover, dishonesty is one thing, racism is another.
I consider Telstra and all companies who use overseas call centres where the staff are forced to use a "Christian" or "anglo-saxon" name rather than their birth name as engaging in racist activity.
Oh that poor white Australian will never be able to pronounce Suhendra, let's call him Ted.
What is even more offensive is that this action by Telstra and other companies making staff use name other than their birth name is the reinforcement of racist stereotypes, an institutional embedding of white Western over all other.
Beyond that, people I do not know wanting me to confirm personal details and record my voice for "training purposes"! No thanks, security comes before someone else's job tasks.
And, the recordings are for liability reasons, just be honest!
Imagine the shear number of calls Telstra record. Does anyone really think that are all use for "training purposes"?
Not a scam. Actually listen to the person before assuming it is a spam call. They Called to let me know about changes to my download limit (increased to unlimited). did not ask my personal details and said I should have an email from Telstra to confirm (which I had last week). They call and hang up...hoping you will call back. asked me for my name and date of birth ,advised them if they were telstra they would have this then requested access to my computer , advised them not my computer but my husbands , he told me they would cut my internet if I didnt access a computer , told him no , he swore at me and hung up , called Telstra straight away and was told they DO NOT call randomly with technical issues , that this is a scam and to NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION. Just tell em to £UCK OFF!!👍 Just had a call from that number. We have a Gaurdian Phone from Telstra, it didn't get through as they couldn't follow simple instructions to register the call. So I gather that it was a scam. Let's face it if any one from any company asks for your details, there is some wrong. They rang once then hung up. Missed a call from (02) 8291 1000 and when I called back it had a recorded message telling me that the number was not in service?? Rang my personal mobile and said they were from Telstra. Wanted to confirm that I was the account holder. I asked her to tell me who the name of the account holder was and she said she couldn't tell me. I got frustrated with her as she has rung me and then expects me to give my details to her. I said it was stupid to think that I would talk to a stranger on the phone. I hung up. Perhaps we should all tell Telstra we will no longer accept calls from o/seas we want jobs in Australia. Ridiculous that we are training people from overseas in Australia to take our jobs. Go figure Got a call from (02) 8291 1000 saying they are from Telstra and want to give more internet data to my home phone.
They asked for my Full Name, Address and Birth date.
My reply was :you rang me , you should have all of that".
I asked them for their full details. Silence on the phone.
Once she said they will give more data, I then asked to which phone number are they going to give it too?
They rang my work mobile that is not connected in any way to my home number.
rang their number and it is not in service or connected.
Said they were ringing on BEHALF of Telstra (not necessarily Telstra). Straight up asked for confirmation of details. Refused to give any. Told them I've no idea who you are. Called me on my mobile, then asked me to answer security questions...not happening. This was a Telstra technician. Not a scam. Telstra calling me but hey, they've got the wrong number! Telstra and the banks both rooted. Who makes their decisions. We are winning the race to the bottom. 4 missed calls at 10.30pm on a Thursday night!!! Made a complaint regarding my NBN and now have people ringing at stupid hours!!! So not happy Telstra, better get free internet from this Who calls at 6am! Research your customers time zone before! No wonder nobody likes you!
