The caller (no name) said that he was from Optus. He said that he wanted to confirm the year that I was born, he chuckled when I wouldn't tell him. He said that he hadn't pulled up my account details (suss) and was offering me a package deal with Netflix included. When I told him that I wasn't interested he still persisted. I told him that I had just left Telstra for my home phone for the same reason he still didn't get the hint.

A representative from 24/7 (a sub division I believe of Optus), was polite when I said I didn’t want to upgrade anything and wasn’t pushy. When I was asked to verify my DOB I said I wasn’t comfortable providing the information over the phone. They were fine by this and just wanted to inform me of some offers. Was very suprised by this but knew it wasn’t a scam when they didn’t mind.

Received a call from this number four days in a row, finally answer and they stated they are from Optus. Asked to verify my identity and knew my dob before I confirmed I asked why it was about. He said he wanted me to know about deals and offers and that there was a free Samsung tablet that you can watch free Netflix from. Didn’t confirm anything and just stated I didn’t need it and don’t want it.

There is a Facebook post verifying that they are from optus, however still seemed dodgy so I rejected the offer

Every single day ,numerous times.Leave no voicemail,which tells me it's a scam ,telli marketer etc..Will block now I have read everyones comments.

Yes just like everyone else I get a call everyday from this ph number and I used to try to answer but they take so long to say anything if at all. It is a scam. Will try to block aswell

It's easy people just ask them for there date of birth / name / address so you can verify them working at Optus before you can continue the conversation it's quite fun for unwanted phone calls

Regardless of them calling you, or you calling them... They need to identify you before they can discuss your account. Its called privacy. Its a consumer law - imagine you lost your phone or it was stolen and they just started discussing your account to details to the wrong person. You are by no way obliged to give this information but don't expect them to give you any information in return.
